what about a local victims of violence charity www.communitysafety.stoke.gov.uk/ccm/navigation/priorities/public-reassurance/victim-support/its a difficult one this i also in my youth was an active participant in footy violence and remember the years well. The events are about addressing such concerns and questioning the whole culture. you quoted yes it WAS about male bonding, travelling and a sort of rebellion against the system but stripping it down it is basically about violence and fighting for what ever reason, which we all should know anyway is WRONG in any shape or form. You will get a good turnout meir, which im pleased about freedom of speech e.t.c ,,but the message MUST be it s not big and its not clever and certainly not manly or attractive. But as im retired good luck and i hope positive things come out of it mate

Debate and free speech..............no need for the negativity on the thread. Someone is organising something that interests people and the brass from it goes to charity. Where is the problem? When the Naughty 40 and Under 5's were evolving (late 80's early 90's) I was home and away every match. Met most of them, occasionally got into some scrapes with them and also got looked after by some of them. Some were intelligent, some were pricks who I wouldn't trust as far as I could throw them. Most only ever fought against opposing hooligans. For me, two things separated Stoke from other teams, we went to away games and very often took over the pubs in their towns early (11am) . Alot of the time there was no problem, but occasionally it would kick off. When it did, everyone, and I mean everyone stood together. I don't think that N40 got the reputation for Stoke, it was average Joe Bloggs in the street who wasn't prepared to get lamped for having a beer in town. Met Jasper on a number of occasions and he seemed a nice lad. A mate of mine once tried to tap his sister up at that Torquay away game which was amusing. His book bought back loads of memories for me and by the sounds of it he's putting something back to good causes. John Ritchie tribute fund is a superb idea

a serious question ..has this been run past the Old bill...Some might say none of their business etc.
But understand similar 'talks' by former lads on the 'after dinner circuit' have been pulled in the past..one at Burnley recently when an evening with Jason Marriner I believe was pulled following presure on the landlord by the police.. though they were doing it slightly cloak and dagger.
If given the advance nod of 'acceptance by the police' and therefore an air of decency rather than a gathering of the clans , with the likelhood of camaras stuffed in anyones face that crosses the door then I believe you'll have a better chance of attracting the middle ground , which as calgarypotter says made up much of Stoke's following with an attitude of stick together..
The N40 was perhap the organised attack element of the view point held by many Stokies during that era and before it..as the N40 did come to full bloom towards the end of the casual scene
If it's cloak and dagger you'll do well to attract the middle ground or many of the unamed retired IMHO

Scouse...good points mate. Appologies if Ive given the impression that this will be Cloak and Dagger operation...It wont. We will have the Website up and running soon.....The tour is already given a mention on Andy Nicholls Site. I have been a little reluctant to give too much away since we are constantly developing the format.
We have Academics attending the event too.....From Liverpool and Keele.....and we are in discussions with several Universities who are interested in our concept for inclusion in seminars next academic year.
So as far as the old bill goes....we have nothing to hide...We may at some point feel it neccessary to touch base with them....but then again my personal point of view is Why Should We ???

It was Jaspers idea to consider making Charitable donation....It was also his idea to make the gesture of providing a complimentary seminar for students at Keele.
