Can any one help with this one.
A friend of mine says he remembers a match in the late 60's where barriers collapsed in the Boothen End at the Vic. I attended almost all the home and away matches during that period and I canot remember anything like that happening. Is my memory going or his. He thought we were playing Leeds United at the time but he cannot be sure.
On a different note. I cannot attend matches now I live here in Melbourne but I do get up at silly times of the night to listen to the matches on the radio. I do believe that this will be our year and feel so proud and excited at the thought of going up.
Also a thanks to Walley for your video moments of the goals at Stoke. I really miss them know that they have been taken off.
All the best lads for the rest of the season. Roll on the premiership.

No mate, no recollection of that and like you I would have been in the Boothen at around that time.
PS - A (poor man's) substitute for Wallyvision is the Virgin media highlights shown 24 hours after the game.

Your mate is right H, the barriers did collapse in the Boothen when we played leeds, there were a few broken legs involved, if i remember right a crush was caused by Stoke fans trying to dislodge Leeds fans who had occupied the mid-section of the Boothen prior to kick off.
Ive got a feeling that this resulted in under 16s being banned from the Boothen for a season or two. I'd put a date of around 1970ish but can't be more accurate than that.
Regards
Nick

I think on one of the history DVDs there's a section of the boothen closed off in the Watney Cup game v Hull due to crowd trouble at a game v Leeds.
Take it was the game in question or was there always trouble v Leeds?

nick, the boothen end ban for lads under 16 was after the man city riot in the boothen end.i would say 1968.40 man city at hartshill hospital.many arrests that day inc me and a mate of mine.we were outnumbered in stoke cop shop and man city had a go there too.

In response to Soi...Virgin media is unavailable in Australia (the reason is apparently buried deep in the terms and conditions)

Definitely Leeds I was only a nipper sitting on the Butler Street Paddock wall and clearly remember loads of injured Leeds fans sitting in front of the advertising boards on the peri-track being tended to by the St John's people.

About 60 Leeds fans were injured if I remember correctly.
New chant created after that....'Ooh watch the barriers, ooh watch the barriers'.
Yeah that was the '60's.....love & peace man.
