I recognise that the team is far from perfect and that there are some obvious problems at the moment. Nonetheless the league table provides the only objective measure we really have and that table says very clearly there are four teams with a good chance of automatic promotion and that Stoke are firmly one of them. Whatever our problems might be we can fairly assume that the other three teams also have issues which are no easier or more difficult to address than ours.
Thinking about our problems specifically even then I can't get too anxious.
So Salif is not up to speed yet - true. But we know what he can do when he gets there and his fine form was only just over twelve months ago. I think there is a very reasonable prospect he will improve with games.
The defence is leaking goals - true. But we know without a shadow of a doubt that Pulis would have been working on this in training today and that he is a man to identify and rectify the shortcomings in this area. 1-0 (Cort header from corner) versus Ipswich anyone?
In all areas we seem to have options to change things about if any particular individual just isn't up to it AND we are told there is a budget & entitlement for further loanees if necessary. I would have thought coming to Stoke in our present predicament is hardly the worst option some out of favour Premiership name could contemplate.
The team fights, they will do their best. There is some cracking skill too. Pulis and his assistants obviously know what they are doing and it is pointless second guessing them. We must enjoy this & get behind our team. No factionalism, no slagging of 'glory hunting' supporters. These are the good times.
