dwd, I was thinking exactly the same. I was at the game but for the life of me I can't remember whether this was the game when he got on his knees and headed it in. Whenever it was, it was absolutley superb.

No, it wasn't this game, I've got it on "The Golden Years" vid - I think he did that against Southampton, because someone (Osgood??) said he could only score headers.

Sorry to be an anorak - but I think that was the previous season, this was very early in our REALLY good season, August/September time. We won 3-0. I think it may have been during Clough's short reign as manager. Happy days - we often did well against Leeds at Stoke, but rarely away - it was much the same with the Shit.

Thanx sidders. Notice that Mahoneys goal was scored from 25 yards with his LEFT foot - the one he normally used for just standing on!
Great stuff!

That was the very first Stoke I went to I take it you've got the Magic Moments video sidders? There are also some other great Stoke wins from that season on there at Birmingham and Derby and at home to Manchester City. Huddy waltzing through the mud at the Vic and the Baseball Ground is truly a sight to behold

That was the first match of the '74/75 season, just to clear any confusion! I was listening to the match on Radio 2 in Guernsey on a trip with Weston Coyney Middle School.
That Leeds team reached the final of the European cup that season and should have won.
