Ok, Taggert's gone back(Leicester site has reaction from Adams etc and numerous other little updates) We've still got the Taggert statement...no reaction, nothing even to just make us feel that something may be done to fill the gaping hole he'll leave..AND no match reaction/pictures/goals from Saturday yet on SCWorld! I know there's no point in saying anything for the sake of it but something new please! We could sign Beckham and Zidane and we'd be the last to know! I think I must be gossip -starved today...or very bored! I think I've posted on the wrong section aswell? Sorry!

Actually, the goals are on SCWorld, and have been on most of the day.

well, I have to say that on every occasion that I looked it was still Pulis' interview prior to the match...and that's been up to when I posted! Following your reply, I've gone back over and sure enough there's the update and Asaba bit! Very strange! has my pc been locked in some strange time warp? ???

I've just seen the goals on SC World but, like stokief, I couldn't find them when I looked a couple of times earlier in the day - the last time being about 2.30pm.

Reminds me of a song that.....
Anyway, I digress. They didn't put a direct link on the SCWorld home page. You had to go to 'Highlights channel' and then click on 'Match Highlights' to see the link. I know, not the most user-friendly way, is it!

a-ha! sneaky. Still, mystery solved and enjoyed the sarbs interview! He likes a good chat doesn't he?! ;D Really pleased to hear team spirit oozimg out. I hope they're all still feeling so chirpy since losing Taggert. These will be testing times with injuries etc. I really hope TP manages another coup of some kind!

I feel the club are doing the right thing by not printing anything about taggarts future on the website. What'd be the point of building our hopes up if they're not certain if they can bring him to Stoke! It'd just be more disappointing if they couldn't do what they said!

I'm sure we'll hear something more today off the club, hope so anyway.

I don't usually like doing this kind of thing, but it has to be said that the quality of our official site is really quite poor. We've had to just seven lines of type in 48 hours...the news that Gerry Taggart has been recalled by Leicester. Just to have a look at what else is going on in the First Division, I visited two random First Divsion clubs (Ipswich's and Gillingham's) official sites. Over the past two days, Ipswich have had 10 stories, and Gillingham 8. Are Stoke City really expecting us to believe that there is NOTHING to report on these past two days? I don't class myself as an expert, but surely news of Peter Hoekstra's and Lewis Neal's injuries should be a priority right now...how about an update on Clint Hill's illness...maybe a short report on how well Gerry did for us...maybe a little interview with Brian Wilson on his time at Cheltenham...or even a story about the £700,000 raised from the Britannia Save and Support Account. All in all, pretty poor form from SCFC I'm afraid

yeah, I suppose you're right.
They don't show much imagination, do they?.
How about an interview with Cookie about his time in Korea, and his time at Stoke?.
An interview with Souleymane Oulare or Van Deurzen?.
Or Denis Smith, John Ritchie or Georgie Berry?.
Mickey Thomas, Steve Foley, Vince Overson?
An interview with the groundsman?.
An interview with Tim Gallimore about his new job?.

Dave,
Got say you're are bang on there, our site is quite poor indeed. What also could be said is that the Taggart story has been reported everywhere and so I didn't even need the official site to come up with that snippet. What would be nice is coverage of stories about illnesses and as you say a quick interview with young Brian--- things that aren't going to be covered on Sky news etc.
Its a pretty pointless thing at the moment I'm afraid to say and that's a sad thing.
cheers

Well said, Dave. Rex and I have often criticised the Official site on this board (possibly with less tact than yourself) and Ian Bayley has usually responded. Sometimes he produces relevant points in the club's defence, sometimes not.
What he and others at the club don't seem to appreciate is the mind set of most Stokies who use the net. I WANT the club site to be my first source of information on Stoke matters. If I hear/read something somewhere else my first reaction is to check the official site for confirmation.
The Oatcake succeeds brilliantly in fostering a community spirit the Official site clearly does not. It's not as if it takes very long to write news articles. Ask any small local paper (not the big chains) how many news articles their staff knock up in a day and you will find that it is often dozens. Ok, some days there will be no news but most days there is and it should be on the site for us all to see.
Not strictly Tim Gallimore's job - but I hope he sees that lack of effort on the IT side hampers his work and sorts it out soon.

The fact is that there must be hundreds of literate Stokies who would give their eye teeth to be on the inside and able to interview TP, the players and ex-players and write for the Official site. It is amazing that the club have not managed to employ even one of them.

It is amazing that the club have not managed to employ even one of them. Whilst agreeing that the site can be poor (I'm fed up with having to read about our players movements from other clubs sites ), didn't Stoke advertise the various IT jobs in the local press, match program and even on the Oatcake MB?

Not sure we are really talking about the IT side, Jumbo. There certainly are still some problems on that side of things, but a properly set up site would allow contributors to post stories whether they knew much about IT or not.
Bob James for example, who does the match reports, doesn't really need to know much about how the site works. He, presumably, has password access so he can file his reports over the weekend.
A reporter, correspondent - call him what you will - simply needs to have access to the information, manager, players etc and he can post from anywhere at any time. He could be a part timer - the main qualification is an enquiring mind and an ability to write in a manner which captures fans' interest - rules me out then! ;D
