In Tuesdays session, we learnt how to breeze into a three goal lead and then expertly made life difficult for ourselves by playing with our eyes closed for the second half.
Everyone did really, really well at this, so for today's session we moved the difficulty level up slightly by focusing on the art of gifting the opposition a 2 goal lead, before setting ourselves the challenge of trying to claw the game back in a 20 minute spell.
As we achieved this with some ease, next week we'll be looking at how to win a game after getting four men sent off in the first half, and by playing Lewis Buxton and Marlon Broomes as a centre half pairing...Aaaaaaaaaaaaarghhhhh!!!!! My vital organs just can't take much more of this. Can't we just go back to the 1-0 binary stuff, just for a little while? Well, I'm afraid to say that Pulis dropped a rare clanger today by starting with Diao, who is either still nowhere near fit, or has permanently "gone off his legs". The bloke was a passenger for the most part, and when he was near the ball, or occasionally in possession of it, he resembled some kind of old man with arthritis, stumbling round the local park. Really we found ourselves 0-2 down because a) We were playing with ten men and b) Our defence is still playing as if they've just been introduced about a minute before before kick-off. I'd be surprised if Cort and Shawcross even know each other's names such is the lack of communication between the two, or to anybody else for that matter. Surely we couldn't get out of jail again could we? Oh yes we could! Liam Lawrence was in super full-back roasting form, and once he'd pulled a goal back, there was no stopping us. With the crowd calling for Gallagher, Pulis predictably put Cresswell on instead, with Diao inevitably making way, miraculously without the assistance of any mobility aids. However, it was Cresswell who grabbed our equaliser, before Fuller went on on of his impossible runs, which ended with him cutting the ball back for Lawrence and somehow we were 3-2 up and now appeared to be in no danger of relinquishing the advantage. There were plenty of positives about tonight other than the fact we once again showed that we can battle our way to 3 points out of even the most impossible looking position. Lawrence was great out wide, Whelan was buzzing around like a vibrator at a lesbian orgy, and Pugh and Griff both showed real quality on the ball at full-back. I said this after the Southampton game and I'll say it again now, even though we've spent a fortune on the centre back pairing I'd drop one of them in a heartbeat if we had a Taggart-style leader to play alongside the other. If we are looking to bring in a loan signing, I'd make this a priority. As exciting as it is to have to score 3 goals every week, we simply can't keep on doing it...can we??? Anyway, enough worrying....WE ARE TOP OF THE LEAGUE!!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I actually REALLY like Leon Cort but agree with what you say.
We miss Higginbotham quite a bit, and have done all season (well, bar the first game at Cardiff).
Shawcross and Cort ARE excellent signings, but, like you say, we need a leader to sort the indecisive nature of some of our defending.
Dare I say this, but is Duberry available and fit?!

The first goal was Corts fault. He was at least 3 yards off Patto before their player crossed the ball and i was screaming for him to get closer but he didn't and they scored. Expected a lot better from him than that. Oh well, alls well that ends well.
