They are both really good. The old one for tradition but the new one for being distinctive and recognisable.

Definitely prefer the old badge (hence my avatar) but don't mind the new one either. My favourite badge is actually the 80's SCFC one!

I like the coat of arms badge, really links us with the city. I like the 80s badge too mind. Hate the new badge, just soulless junk!

I'd take any of the previous three over this one to be honest. It smacks of corporations and Iceland, my two mortal enemies.

The new badge has got to go hasn't it? I wouldn't put it on a packet of crisps.
I seem to remember Phil Rawlins designed it himself on a napkin over lunch in Santa Monica, whizzed it over to the Icelandic Board and hey presto we've been stuck with the tawdry little thing ever since.
I'm sure we'll scrap it when someone in the marketing dept gets a spare moment.

The old badge is symbolic of everything about Stoke-on-Trent. It's part of the tradition of aldermen and guildsmen and the local industries that the city was built on. It 's welded to the notion of England and Staffordshire. The six towns are all represented, and therefore its people who are the club's fans.
The current badge is all about simplicity for ease of electronic digitalization, making money, and the flexible, know-the-value-of-nothing cynicism of 21st century marketing. It was launched by a lame duck foreign consortium, who knew nothing about the traditions of the club and everything about how to sell fish. They hired a marketing consultant and some design agency, and abandoned 140 years of tradition (the actual name of the club represents the formation of the city in 1925 FFS!) to increase turnover.
So I guess it's the old badge for me.

The city crest is a great badge and something to be proud of. I can appreciate the rebranding in that the club wanted something simple and easily recognisable. It's also easy to reproduce on merchandise. I can remember some of the products on sale in the 90s had badges of questionable quality.
But the trouble with the new badge is that it doesn't really say anything about us as a club. Yes, it may be instantly recognisable to non-Stokies in that it says 'Stoke City' in big letters, and tells everyone our nickname, but to an extent I feel it devalues and commercialises us. I think it comes from a similar type of simple design such as Fulham's awful badge.
The old crest really does make us look like the grand old football club that we are, but after an expensive rebranding, I can't see the club going through the process again.
