Sepp Blatter is still a blinkered senile old c*** who is too old for the top job in world football.
He should fuck off and retire gracefully and take that twat Platini with him.

and hate to think what that makes Scudamore?????????? A word hasn't yet been invented to describe the twat Hopefully with the almost universal condemnation from around the globe (with the exception of the greedy self-interested Premiershit chairmen of course) this will make Scudamore's position untenable. And as has already been said, if this is starting to affect our 2018 chances then the FA need to do something about it. Do they have the power to force Scudamore out?

The FA have said FIFA can't really do all that much about it. At the end of the day national matches don't need FIFA's involvement and what threats could FIFA make to the English FA if they went ahead with it?
If they tried to remove us from the FIFA football set-up, FIFA would get sued for a massive amount and it would probably ruin them financially and world football (would you put it past the FA if they had nothing to lose?) from what I've read and been reading up on, and has been cited in the media, the FA can get away with just negotiating with another countries FA.
How much pressure do you think it would say put on the Japanese FA if someone went and like offered the club a 50% split of tv revenue etc for that match, its a fair bit of money that would be hard to turn down for effectively letting us borrow their stadium.
As with the FA of course the offer they get made would decrease or contracts would be drawn up, there is no reason for this to affect our 2018 world cup bid - the only reason it is affecting it is because FIFA really dont have anything to stop it other than threaten to take the world cup away from us and considering the fact that Sepp Blatter said we were favourites for 06 and now 2018 - but has then said in the media and american nation is more likely to get it at that time it means our 2018 bid isn't all that likely at this moment in time courtesy of Beckham and co fleeting off to america.

I'd have thought it would bugger any chance we had of getting the world cup for 2018. The proposal appears to have upset enough National associations to lose us quite a few votes if the 39th game proposal goes ahead. The fact is that if you want to win the chance to stage International tournaments the fewer people around the world you upset, the better.

Its in Brazil in 2014 so would it be in the USA in 2018? They prefer to have consecutive ones in different parts of the world.
I would have said England would be a big chance for 2018 BUT this daft idea has already pissed a lot of people off.

World cup in 2018 is in europe...and its about time it came here again. Somehow I dont think we have heard the last of game 39...all prem chairman are in favour. Many have huge debts or made major investment and want their money back...the likes of Glazier Gillette and abramovich dont worry about the effect on english football. Even Majeski seems to think is a 'wonderful' idea. Scudamore also says that it will benefit ALL english football...for that statement alone he should be slapped!...but his job is to look at new ways of generating income for the prem league so its not rocket science to come up with an additional game. But impressed with his brassneck attempt at justifying it

It’s about time FIFA said something sensible, it maybe a first and last for Blatter but at least it’s a start. The lure of the world cup may focus the FA into actually showing some balls and standing up to the mighty money men who have taken control of the game. It comes as no surprise that sky are behind the idea, lets face it they have changed the face of football since the Premiership came into being backed by Murdoch’s millions.
The scheme is supposed to give smaller clubs a chance to profit from other world markets, yet the reality it’s once more a chance for 5 or 6 clubs to enhance their finances even more and allow the gaps to widen. If the threat of not getting support for a world cup bid is what it takes to scupper this idea than good for Blatter.
If the clubs decide to push on regardless it will once more show they are simply speeding towards the cliffs at break neck speed, when the golden goose begins to lay baron eggs what will the smaller clubs who have once more fallen in behind the powerhouse clubs have to show for their troubles, well let Leeds, Sheffield Wednesday and Nottingham Forest be their guides, sometimes you need to say no to easy money for the long term good of the game.

It seems that the people pulling the strings on this one really couldn't give a toss about where the 2018 World Cup is held. In fact, I strongly suspect few of them would be able to explain the number of minutes in each half of the match, let alone the off-side rule.
