Absolutely fantastic business by TP. I thought it was good business at the time, but seeing Whelan's last couple of performances and Diao getting better with every game, it really was a good move. I'm so excited about tomorrow's game...I can't wait to drive home from work to get home and get ready!

Got to agree with moorlander, Salif's not worth his place again yet, SJE did a better job. But, we've all seen the dividends Tone gets for keeping faith with players as they build their fitness and confidence, look at Rory. We could badly do with that happening sharpish in Salif's case though, this isn't the time to have a weak link.

Moorlander couldn't agree more, we really missed SJE's work effort and defensive cover. Not having him there to protect the centre half's left them totally exposed to Stern John's pace and made them look pedestrian.
.........and this isn't a criticism of Whelen, who I rate as a class midfielder - just a different sort.

Haha...Diao covers more ground than Eustace and passes the ball better. A couple of tackles he did on Tuesday were top quality too. Since Eustace has gone we've won 3 games on the trot Get real? Ok...we can't stop winning and Eustace has gone. That's real to me.

Diao was crap on Tuesday, lets hope he improves. Last year he was amazing and I am hoping he rediscovers that form

I don't understand the stick Diao is getting. He was better when things got tough on Tuesday than Whelan, who just disappeared. Eustace may have been good to bring on to get stuck into the battle, but we certainly don't need him as a first teamer. As for Diao, he's improving and while his passing isn't great, he pulled off a brilliant ball in the second half and he's looking better.
Moorlander has a vested interest.

Diao was awful on Tuesday, he was off the pace from the start and looked like he was limping for most of the game.

Diao is a million miles better than Eustace and will come good just like Delap. He's been out for 9 months, ffs give him a chance to find his form from last season.

Moorlander has a vested interest. Hang on a sec: Moorlander is the King of conspiracy theories. Shirley you are not suggesting that the man who has intimated more skulduggery (normally aimed at The Oatcake) than Mohammad Fayed has been peddling the virtues of SJE because of some personal connection or interest? Please feel free to expand. Or maybe Moorlander would like to enlighten us? ;D

According to him, they're rather good friends. That's why he kept threatening to sue SIOCH when he said he was rubbish.

Dont want to sound greedy, but it would have been ideal to keep SJE as well as having Diao, Whelan et al. Eustace had done a sound job recently. Even if Salif is technically the better player (and theres argumaents for and against here) I would have liked to see us keep onto Eustace for the run-in.
We can only benefit from having depth in the squad after all, and for the money we got i dont know if it was worth cashing in.
Wont be losing too much sleep on it as we've brought in Whelan, Gally. Both are excellent signings.
Just think you take a risk selling a first-teamer to promotion rivals (although here's hoping it backfires with hilarious consequences, a la Kavanagh to Cardiff) ;D
