With Asia and Australia both out and there being no way that South America woul go for it. The idea should now be pretty much dead. Can't see how it is viable without the huge Asian market.

I wouldnt be to sure that that is there final decision. Think about it...
If the Asia, Australian etc football federations aid yeah its a great idea, cant wait for it, then the Premierleague can offer them a schit percentage of the revenue
I think this opposition is like a bargaining tool

With Platini obviously giving it the cold shoulder based on his comments, why aren't FIFA intervening and blocking any FA (or league within it) from playing competitive domestic fixtures abroad. Then Scudamore can't use the excuse that the Italians or Spanish would steal a march on this lucrative market.
It will not be enough for just the English FA to block it - it has to come from FIFA.

You mean you can't see the evil, money grabbing wankers trying to represent Doha as the best option for ALL of the 39th games then? They could even pretend that they were doing it because all of the clubs would be travelling the same distance and playing in the same stadium - so how much fairer that would be? They could have a weekly fixture there to try and establish "the brand". And then in 12 months time, after the principle has been firmly established, the next club in need of financial support could be taken over the Arabs as a franchise and shipped out there. Liverpool's new ground could be quite some distance away from Stanley Park!!!!!!!!!ll

hmmm hadn't thought of that, it really is possible. Pluis the US and Canada may well go for it too. So no the idea isn't dead by a long shot. I think it will go ahead now.

It was an absolute joke of an idea and an indication of the type of wankers running the Premier League.

If FIFA had balls they could declare the premiership inelligible for representaion in the champions League based on 'illegal' games played outside of the country. why don't FIFA make a law that all games have to be played on home soil....case sorted!!!!!

Bogus - actually .......erm yes. But then money talks and they've got a bit!
Okay for the purpose of the suggestion replace Doha with New York - with the whole Beckham circus being part of the conspiracy then! And isn't most of the NY port authority owned by Arabs or some such?

One reason the FA here isn't interested is because there's a league here to be supported and hosing an English game would be a distraction. IMHO its the right decision. So may people here are fanatical about the Premier League and show little interest in the team in their own cities.
Whats required is for the people from Newcastle to actively support Newcastle, the people from Adelaide to actively support Adelaide etc. I woukldn't be surprised if thats the thinking behind the AFC declaring disinterest too. So bollox to the Premier League! Its also a wise political step as far as the possibility of hosting the World cup at some stage goes.
