I’ve been made redundant today so I’m going to go to the shop and get some alcohol🤪 That's a bastard, sorry to read that. It certainly is a bastard. 23 years as well. Anyway on the subject of snacks, I’ve never enjoyed malt loaf, but I did have an odd penchant as a youth for 4 ginger nut biscuits topped with vanilla ice cream🤷🏻♂️

@#$#@#$ Isak's Real Sociedad! Only got that one wrong on the swedish 8 games Top Football Pools. Me and my brother would have won 4700 SEK (£450). Now nothing. Thought it could have been even a bit more.

I'll take the vanilla ice cream and improve it with a flake or two. 👍

What your favourite confectionary firstly as a youngster, and also now? Sherbert pips. These days I've still got a bit of a sweet tooth and go for more fizzy/sour sweets. Can't really get excited about chocolate. Hand on heart I've never been able to eat a Mars bar in one go.

Can't really get excited about chocolate. Hand on heart I've never been able to eat a Mars bar in one go. Then - Walkers cheese & onion crisps. Limited in my general confectionary intake as one bag of crisps was a whole week's pocket money so I had to choose carefully. Occasionally cigarette sweets for the devilment; banned from eating them by my parents (both smokers!) it was always a thrill to wander around with one in my mush wondering if I was going to get a crack round the head for it.
Now - pickled onion Monster Munch, pork scratchings
Can't be doing with chocolate. Growing up literally next door to a Cadburys factory probably had something to do with that. And non-fluorised, non-chlorinated water from a well so what few teeth I have left are 90% cavities & chocolate does horrendous things to them. So do pork scratchings to be honest, but it's worth the pain & further broken teeth.

Very cold part of the floor in my hallway! Very strange. Every apartment below and above me look the same. No window in the hallway, or in the next door bathroom. Why is that part of the floor freezing? 😤

Why is that part of the floor freezing? 😤 Hartshillbadger's stalking you Musik. The vanilla ice cream's slipped off his ginger nuts. A post in another thread's got me thinking. What are everyone's go-to songs if they're forced to do scaryoke? For me it's: Roger Whittaker - The Last Farewell Nick Cave + Kylie - Where The Wild Roses Grow Eric Bogle - The Green Fields Of France I like a happy song.

As I stand here in a pool of melted gingery vanilla ice cream in Musiks hallway I’m thinking I’ve only done Karaoke 3 times and did ABC’s Look of Love. It’s not exactly a favourite song of mine so not sure why I’ve picked it🤷🏻♂️. I have a vague memory of somebody saying I sounded good whilst howling it at work and just running with it🤣

Only ever had one go and it'll be my last. Did 'Ride Sally Ride' and I thought it was pretty good in an ok sort of way but to the gathered audience of now ex friends I was totally crap (in their opinion) but what do they know. I do a mean rendition of 'Last Train to London' as well.

I will try to tidy up a bit here now. Very difficult due to pain and numbness in arms and hands, and wearing elbow splints not to bend my elbows. 🤔 Should have had one of those robotic vaccum cleaners.

I believe when lockdown & the threat of Covid is (largely) over, we should all have one hell of a meet up. It's hurts me (and Mrs Q) greatly that we've not been able to make any gatherings previously.
I'll so look forward to that, as would Mrs Q, and to dispel (or confirm) some of the myths generated on here. In truth, Mrs Q doesn't batter me with a frying pan. It's generally just spatulas & wooden spoons.
I propose that the evening be rounded off by a whole-gathering rendition of ... My Way by Frank Sinatra ... Delilah. No exceptions, all to take part. I have been known to do that on occasions of course. Particularly in The Dog & Gun in Gipton, Leeds (probably the roughest pub in one of the roughest areas of Leeds and now a much safer armament and used-needles outlet). It brought the house down, people on tables belting it out with me. Hugs from people I'd normally run miles to avoid. The fact that there were arrests later that evening for white powder abuse & a stabbing have nothing to do with either me or the song.

Right then, so Shirley Temple - oh no, sorry, I mean Crispin - went for his booked-two-weeks-ago hair appointment this afternoon. As he was leaving I yelled from the battlements 'while you're out, Crispy, call in at Sainos and get a Malt Loaf or two and don't come back without them or else' gently called out and politely asked him to visit a goodly baker and please return with two delicious examples of this fine treat. Which he did, and 3/4 of it, buttered, had gone within 10 mins of him getting back. So many thx, Okes and Chuff, for the reminder. He also came back looking much better, btw.

They still talk about that very evening up in 'them thar' parts, JD, and as far as I know, life-size pics of you in action on said night are still pinned up both behind the bar and in the local nick and they're all miserable that they didn't get your autograph now they've noticed how much they sell for on EBay. Actually, no, this is urgent now: just wanted to catch you and ask you to look in on the 'Fruit Trees' thread as it now contains a recent 'Château Murph Cuisines du Monde' chapter on killer radishes and people who have gallstones needing to avoid them, so thought you'd want to know. The last time I sang 'Delilah' out loud was when we beat Bournemouth 1-0 at home in the penultimate season in the Prem - and I definitely didn't sing THAT line!

THAT line was sung in the Dog & Gun & brought much merriment. Being all dirty Leeds nutters (and I do mean nutters in both a figurative and literal sense) they didn't know the line but approved mightily. Landlady gave me a free pint & one of the denizens offered me a line of powder in the toilets !!! I politely declined ...
Righty, over the to Fruit Trees thread to see what's occuring.

And now for something completely different: "Ooh la la. Jaunty accordion music. Check tablecloths and candles in wine bottles. A waft of smoke off a couple of Gauloises". Can you see what it is yet? I thought you might like a quick little Monday afternoon sightseeing trip to 'gay Paree'. This clip is called '10 best places to see in Paris'. I'd agree with most of the choices, but the more 'red-blooded / ever-so macho' amongst you (so that's most of you, then) might be absolutely pig sick a tad disappointed that there's not even a mention of the Moulin Rouge, much less a clip from a live show. Sacré bleu. Désolé….. Try to enjoy yourselves, anyway.

I think it's a city you never tire of, no matter how many times you visit and see the same places, etc. I quite like Madrid, too, but I prefer Paris by far.

Paris is all well and good murph but does it have a KFC that you can frequent in an hour of need. 😀 Well, I'm afraid I don't know about KFCs or Burgeries, etc., Okes, but there are certainly plenty of Patisseries full of tempting baked deliciousness….. ....which coincidentally leads me on to an emailed USA article I received yesterday & which, for your delight and delectation - (** now you all have to go "Oooooooooh!" **) - is as follows! Which Pie are you, according to Your zodiac sign? 'Let the stars pick the perfect pie recipe for your next baking day. From classic apple pie to creamy and savoury chicken pot pie to delightfully bright lemon meringue, find out which pie is right for you based on your zodiac sign.'
What a load of total & utter rubbish. I'm apple pie, btw. Wooooo, 'ang on a min - on the apple pie recipe page it says: 'The warming spices are reminiscent of the warm and loving personality of the Sagittarians themselves.' Oh, (**looks smug**) they got that one right, then…. pity they forgot to include our all-round brilliance & amazing modesty. Anyway, here you are, pie people - find out which one is yours: www.foodnetwork.ca/fun-with-food/photos/pie-according-to-zodiac-sign/#!Aries-Cherry-Pie
