Initially I thought Griffin was a good choice as Captain, however, after last night I am far from convinced.
When Southampton swarmed all over us at the start of the second half & a number of players acted like "headless chickens" Griffin failed to intervene in attempt to calm the rocking ship, he simply got on with his own game. This was a great opportunity for him to show his leadership qualities, unfortunately, in my opinion he failed miserably.
Fuller was clearly having a difficult game (again) & I am amazed he actually managed not to get to get sent off. I might be wrong but I am convinced that Griffin never tried to calm him down or even speak to him. In fact Cort was the one that impressed in that regard when he dragged Fuller off their player on the edge of our area in the first half before he got involved in his second "fight" of the game.
Between now & the end of the season we need a leader on the pitch, I hope Griffin "comes out of his shell".

I think your over exaggerating, i don’t think fuller was ever in any potential red card situations, he was just winding up southamptons players, its part of his game

I agree with you Shelton, looked like a little boy lost when they scored their two goals. Never once saw him shout an instruction or encouragement to a team member all game. Class player, and TP's switch with 10 mins to go was a master-stroke, as we snuffed out any chances of them sneaking another one.
But we are going to need STRONG leadership with 14 games to go - and he either needs to step up to the challenge - or we've got a major problem. For me Delap is the only other option we've got at the minute, and I can't see TP changing skipper again this season.
Question - would we / should we 'carry' Matteo as a playing skipper, for his experience / leadership if fit again. And if so, who would you drop?
