Presthaven, nice male great spotted woodpecker you have there. I hope it isn't the one which woke me up this morning hammering on the telegraph pole? The dawn chorus is one thing but something that sounds like a road drill at 6.30 am is quite another!

Hate to be the bringer of bad news - but the red on the forehead shows its a juvenile Great Spotted Woodpecker - sex unclear. Adult males have a red nape, not forehead
