I have heard that the fail have placed a bid on any points we dont need at the end of the season
They have forecast that we will be promoted on 90 points and west Brom will finish third on 83, they say we will have gained 6 points that will not be of any use to us.
Any truth ;D

I'd prefer to be promoted with 89 points. Anyone who was around in May 1993 will know what I'm on about.

I dare say that'll be the last time they ever get 89 points!

And anyway if it wasn't enough you would fancy a team who collected 89 points to win the play-offs and certainly not lose 3-0 and have a man sent off in the final.... Oh shit I've done it again haven't I?? ;D

I distinctly remember one Vale fan writing to the Sentinel and claiming that it was a travesty of justice that Vale had amassed 89 points and hadn't been promoted automatically.
I've just carried out a bit of research, and it turns out that in the very same season that Vale achieved a total of 89 points and didn't win promotion, two other teams accrued even more points and did!

Next you'll be telling me about an audacious Vale swoop to sign Ian Rush after transfer deadline day due to Rudgey finding a loop hole in the system......

I wonder if the 6 points we took off them or the 3 we gave Bolton cost fail promotion? That night at Bolton was the only time i was happy when we conceded a goal. ;D

Ah, the memories...
Foxy going down in slow motion as Julian Darby fired the winner, Stokies not appearing to give a shit, and Dave Regis almost fucking everything up by heading narrowly over the crossbar.

I think my dad was the only person who didn't "get it", and seemed genuinely annoyed with the result.
Mind you, I suppose you have to consider the fact that, in a league season when we only lost seven games, my folks chose Leyton Orient, Huddersfield and Bolton as their away matches.

It sounds a good idea to me, we sell them our unwanted points say 7 take the 500k, this of course pushes them into admin and they lose 10, now that would really top the season off.

Its great, on the best of video for the season, you can see the Stoke fans having a "mental" when Bolton score... I also think that a local rule meant that you could do a 5-a-side style "wall-pass" off the supermarket and still carry on playing ;-)

I was well lashed on the back of that Bolton result. I was at Uni with my best mate who was a Bolton fan who promised me ten pints if we let them win. I was mangled as he duly paid up in one sitting. I couldnt get up the next day but he didnt eat for the next 2!
I also seem to remember Vale fans invading the pitch at Exeter after they thought we'd won 1-0 or summat? Nowt like misinformation for an ill informed mental!
