didnt know he was on less than ten! i wonder if the "move to pompey" was more about his agent trying to get the contract renewed at a time when lenny is in form and more around the international scene and we have stayed up??

It will have something to do with that, and hopefully it does speed the process along because Lenny is an amazing player and it makes for proud reading when a player of his quality has shown his intent to commit to Stoke. Go on Lenny. ;D

I have no problem with Liam being up with the top earners at the club. His attitude, workrate and quality since coming back into the side have been first class and it's scary when you think that players like Cresswell, Kitson and probably Sonko earn a healthy whack more than him.
Pay up Stoke - Liam's worth it!

"On a par with the top earners" he can fook right off, he isn't worth what Abdy and Beattie are on at all. he's worth a max of £20K a week

I think he's worth every penny, results improved no-end when he came back into the team this season.

He is Stoke through and through now. He has to stay, he can be a big part of our team next year.

I'm with Ilford on this one. Liam is on of our 'average' first teamers and is not in the same class as Faye/Beattie/Fuller etc. By all means give him a pay rise but not one based on half a dozen good games over the last few months. If we all got paid based on what we are capable of (or our highest production rate) then we could all justify 25-50% pay increases tomorrow. Consistent performance at this higher level is the key. I think Liam is just testing the water whilst his star is rising. I don't think TP needs to rush into offering him an improved 4yr contract at +200% increase just yet.

for me, he scored the goal that got us promotion (Cov) and the goal that secured safety (Hull)
pay the guy and keep him here!

Average player?? He's one of our best players! IMO he's up there with Fuller, Beattie, Sorensen and Abdy, well, sort of with Abdoulaye, because he's in a league of his own!

How much do we reckon he's asking for? Beattie is on a reported £36k, there's no way Liam can justify that much, but £20-25k seems fairly appropriate if Cresswell earns £16 rising to £19k for an appearance.

I think using what Cresswell gets paid as some sort of barometer for what the others should get, would probably be unwise ... we'd be bankrupt within a year! ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/0m0lbCuTEBzaRn6f8QaM.gif)

If he only renewed his contract end of last season why didnt his agent insert automatic pay rises dependant on promotion, appearances etc? No wonder he,s called trigger! Should of used cressers agent ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/0m0lbCuTEBzaRn6f8QaM.gif)

Surely his last contract extension had a clause triggering a pay rise on promotion? I can understand him asking for a pay rise, but it doesn't mean he's entitled to one. He's not in the same class as Faye and Beattie.

How much longer have we got to tolerate Cresswell?

Liam is one of the best players in our team, on his day he's worth as much as Beattie or anybody, he's definitely worth more than Cressy!

To be honest that has pissed me off a bit. I'm sure he struggles on his 9 grand a week.
Fuck me.

I cant believe a player of Liams quality is on just £9k a week.
Funny how easy it is to forget that we are in the Prem because of his 15 goal haul.
He had an unfortunate season last year but showed signs he was back to his best at the end.
