A bizarre thing to do, ball was rolling into the empty net and the player who was 2 yds off side prods it in on the line.
Thank you whoever he was.
We made hard work of it but Walsall had 3 or 4 great chances to make it 3-3.
Credit to Paul Williams.

Anything that makes Colin Lee more bitter than he already is must be worth a chuckle.
I bet he'd like to swap that guy for one of our 45 forwards now would'nt he?
Still, at least he can sit back and watch Vinny Samways jet back to the Costa del Crime....
Ho Ho Ho

Couldn't believe he touched it - It was going in anyway.
Thought Merson ws immense when on the ball - Brilliant vision.

We should have brought Justin Whittle back to mark him out of the game again. If he could do it in 1998, he could do it now! What a player, it was like he was being ordered around by a sergeant the way he followed Merson for 90-odd minutes. I wonder if he followed him into the changing room as well- it wouldn't surprise me! Great stuff! (Wish I was at the game today so I could comment on the match instead of anything else... )

Thought Merson ws immense when on the ball - Brilliant vision. He was given far too much space early on which lead to their first goal. Once the cautious respect for him had worn off he was closed down far quicker and faded somewhat from the game. Samways? Was he on the pitch?

Hairystool - wrong! You say that when we gave him no respect and closed him down he faded. You are not giving Pulis enough credit there. What actually happened is this... (IMHO) Merson (playing 'in the hole' + Samways + A.N Other vs Svard + Russell were dominating. Thus allowing Merson to have all the space he wanted. Pulis saw this and pulled Hoekstra and Neal in from the flanks - creating a diamond like formation. Hoekstra just behind the front two. Svard sitting in front of the back four. Picking up Merson. Hence he faded and the 'tight' midfield four were able to keep Mr Merson somewhat subdued. (Commons took on the role Hoekstra had previously fulfilled.) A tactical bit of genius from Mr Pulis and essentially provided the key to the great win. Triffic Tone, I thankyou. ST

Nice way of explaining it Hairystool!!
And then when Asaba and GNW went wide with the ball, Krissy seemed to take on a more striking position.
Still think Justin Whittle would've been the best option though. That way we'd have had another two goals to our name with his probing runs.
