If he's quality why didn't chesterfield pick him more?.he's years off being ready for our 1st team and needs a whole season in league 1 or 2 and score 15 to 20 goals in the process.

Rooney's a difficult one to assess, isn't he?
His scoring for the Irish age-group teams is amazing. Isn't it something like 21 goals in 21 games?
And he managed to score 7 in only 11 starts at Chesterfield, and was largely played on the right wing. But even their manager obviously didn't think he was ready to start games up front at that level.
He does seem to lack a bit of pace.

Knows where the onion bag is though. But maybe that won't be enough.
It'll be interesting to see how well Pulis does. Maybe we can finally get an answer to the 'how much of a waste of space is he?' question.

Well Rooney is in the middle of a dog fight for a relegation place - so he could really make a name. Young Pulis at Bristol too - they have games in hand on those above and could be looking at a play-off birth.
Yes one or two more out on loan would be nice and not the youngsters particularly.

Isn't it Chesterfield's old coach that is manager at Gigg Lane now?
So he must have impressed at Saltergate to an extent.
