I've read this article about today about Liverpool possibly signing a multi-million pound sponsorship deal to call their new stadium Carlsberg Anfield and it got me thinking about out deal. www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/sponsor-eyes-anfield-name-deal-1685119.htmlFor how much and for how long is our new deal with Britannia for the stadium naming rights? I know the original deal was worth £1m for the first 10 years. I can't help thinking we are getting a bad deal here. Arsenal have got a £100m deal with Emirates for the Stadium and shirt sponsorships over 13 years. That works out at £7.69m a year. Now i'm not suggesting we should expect a deal anywhere near that of Arsenal's, but surely we should be worth more than £100,000 a year!

It was good at the time, now its rather shit.
Would hate to lose the Britannia sponsorship though, don't think we would be the same without 'The Brit'

The Britannia is a local mutual building society (which means its owned by its members) with whom many of us have either savings or mortgages.
It stood by us when we played in front of crowds of 7000 odd and we should show it some loyalty.
You never know when we might need to call on such loyalty again.

They got The Brit on the cheap to be honest. £1m for 10 years was a steal. no matter what division or crowd level we had.
Let's see how loyal they are to their workers in the next 12 months.

I dont recall there being a queue to put money into SCFC at the time. The stadium was looking like one big white elephant (as were some of the playing staff).
We owe them something.

There is the save and support thing too, that if, memory serves me right, generates the club just short of £1m a year. While i accept that comes as a % of the money fans have with the building society, its fair to say that there would be nowhere near that much if they didn't sponsor the club!!!

Parksys quote suggests up to £1m a year in naming rights : "The Leek based mutual building society has announced plans to merge with the Cooperative Bank and, if this happens, the Britannia name will disappear. They've paid up to £1m per year for the naming rights of the Brit since it was built back in 1997 and so it promises to be a big change for both fans and the club"
