With immediate effect, shame for the lad really as he was the back bone of that villa team really and since he's been out since January they have faded away from the top four big time.
Probably never recovered from Ricardo scinning him at the brit with his awesome turn and finish and thought christ I can't handle that anymore.
Nah sorry to hear that sad news from a decent pro, good luck for the future fella.

Stay away from Shawcross, O'Neill!!!!!
Good luck in the future to Laursen though always seemed down to Earth.

A true model professional by the looks of it having his career cut short by a terrible injury. Is a proper shame when you have thugs like Joey Barton abusing their privelege of being a "professional" footballer.
All the best to Martin Laursen, it must of been a bloody tough decision.

It was as soon as he saw Stoke were safe!! Couldn't handle facing our bruisers again!! I think Riccy's fantastic flick over him which led to "THAT" goal was too much for him too take.

I remember hearing an interview with Thomas Sorensen on Radio Stoke, the question put to him was 'who is the best defender who you've ever had play in front of you' and his answer was Martin Laursen

Great player, probably the most under rated defender in the Prem. The model professional, Joey Barton take note it's a shame we don't have more footballers like Laursen. Good luck to the lad, I think Villa should keep him on as a defence coach, he deserves it for all the service he's done for them.
