PLeased about the Preston game - I'll be down for that.
Nantwich have obviously got a friendly as part of the deal which meant we used their Weaver Stadium for our reserve games at the end of the season.

We've gone from being a club that looks forward to a pre season friendly against one of the big boys, to one of the big boys that the smaller clubs want to play :-)

Good to have the dates
But having missed just a handful of uk full 1st team friendlies in the last 30 years (think about 7...forest Green , Bideford 1st game ,Lewis , Guernsey, Wokingham x2 on way to Norway /Sweden friendlies and Linfield 1st time ) some of which I only found out about after the event, dissapionting in the extreme to see we've gone down what's become the Premier trodden path of splitting the 1st team squad across two games on the same day..with neither at this stage ( other than by tradition ) as standing out as the 'main' game ...adds confusion 'which to do'
As LP says Nantwich presumably connected to the reserve game , though the youth have played there recently in pre season.

The annoying part is with the Newcastle and Nantwich games on the same day and them spliting the squad you can't watch both games why can't we play Newcastle on the Sunday as tradition and Nantwich on the Monday night as we don't travel to Austria until Wednesday. This would still enable a split squad and would also enable fans to go and watch both games. Unless they are different kick offs on the Sunday hopefully Newcastle will be Lunch time and Nantwich will be evening kick off but I can't see it as it is Stoke City here.

I like the looks of them + Derby, much better than the likes of Southampton away. I'll be getting to a fair few of them I think.

Hi Scouse you don't half get around, in truth I'm surprised you've missed any knowing how dedicated you are - although I didn't get to Norway back in 1982 I did manage to see the first Wokingham match - it must be the only Stoke match I've seen that you haven't though. Great first season back, and £50m to speculate on a few quality players - intersting times being a Stoke fan

Cotswold Getting info up here regards friendlies in those days was murder , especially before I knew the likes of Nic ..of course no internet back then Linfield / Bideford / lewis / blackburn Guernsey / all before I really knew Nic...only got to know about those games after the event ( only Linfield was pre season)..met Nic at Boro away that year ( handful of Stoke there ) was already toying with going Barbados , found he'd already booked up so promptly tagged along. 1st trip to Linfield believe a few went , the staffords were over there at the time , year later just me and nic went across.. Forest Green ..only found out they'd played when we called in on the way to Bideford ( 2nd visit )with zigger + Nic to get the progs from the game. Wokingham. 1st time...2 1/2 days by train to Norway as couldn't afford to fly , as needed an internal flight in norway to get upto Trondheim for the 2nd game ( day after playing Stavanger) ..meant had to miss ,only me from England in Norway for that one.. Wokingham 2nd This time Sweden although better organised by now, similar timings meant our group had to miss Wokingham Probably the biggest 'wish I was there' was the Blackburn game in Guernsey trip , Stokies flew in a tiny plane ( 5-8 seater?) from southampton. ( think ) didn't even now about it, never mind anyone would go the biggest dissapointment , apart from looking at the records and finding about some of the overseas games we missed because we simply didn't know they played was the Tanzania trip when 4-5 of us got permission to go with the club ( paying our own way ) but got let down by the agent 3 days before we flew out when he couldn't get the economy international flights ( economy flights where oavailable when we first started planning ) bloke had to move the club into business class...3 days before they flew ..cost of the flights £2000+ was our entire budget so missed out. To be honest enjoy the challenge of friendlies and often as places I'd never go to if it wasn't the football..these days a lot easier..so long as when you get there ( UAE ) they don't call the game off Kramfors 83 merseysidepotters.fotopic.net/p29076839.htmlBarbados 81 merseysidepotters.fotopic.net/p29075026.htmlnote the st george , years before they became the norm with england fans..bought for my trip to the euro champs in Italy

We've gone from being a club that looks forward to a pre season friendly against one of the big boys, to one of the big boys that the smaller clubs want to play :-) Or: We've gone from the plucky lower-league team narrowly missing out on a draw against a big team, to the big Premiership team convincingly trounced by the more motivated minnows...

Mitchandtitch See the Agents site www.footballcampstyria.com/ currently Stoke down for the Bad Ausee ' camp ' NW Austria... Main question I'd ask yourself is how do you intend getting about and to the games whilst there ( they'll likely to be in two different places ) if intending to use trains / busses etc you might need a ( big ) taxi journey to get you back onto the main line or even back to your 'base camp' If you're intending to hire a car..which we generally do, then distance becomes secondary.. Then your choice becomes narrowed down to what type of trip you're looking for, lake resort, away from it all in the mountains , city..family or lads 'jolly' bare in mind venues may change whilst over there from those originally published. If lads jolly , or on your todd I'd probably opt for salztburg..if family , or calmer trip where you're looking to switch off from being a footie fan on non matchday I'd opt for a lake resort... If you're into walking etc then hire a car and get away into the mountains away from the crowds Either way dont expect Benidorm or Ibiza Accomodation ranges from camping to full blown 5 star spa resorts / international class hotels and everything in between.
