10 years since that disgraceful 1-4 defeat at home to Bristol Rovers. A truly horrendous pile of shyte. It was clear that day that the 'players' we had lacked the decency to even feel ashamed of their plundering indifference. The worst Stoke team I've ever had the misfortune to witness. When Kavanagh left a few years later and had the audacity to criticise SCFC it was amazing that he could do so when he was the centre of a team capable of such shit. Who the fuck did he think he was?
At that stage rightly there was a lot of stick in the direction of the directors. It was justified but also meant the 'players' didn't get the hammering they deserved.
What a horrible HORRIBLE memory.

There were several such results at home towards the end of that season and I saw the lot. I remember Burnley giving us a similar hammering with an ex Stoke (Pickering?) scoring a screamer at the Boothen End. Players, management and fans had all given up the ghost by that time and all we wanted was a quick end to another disappointing and meaningless season.
Funnily enough it didn't hurt too much as by that time we were all punch-drunk with failure anyway.
From memory, home crowds got as low as 8000 and had it not been for the Icelandics we could have sunk without a trace.
What odds would you have got then on Stoke being in the Premiership 10 years later?

Was that the game where Kav hit a penalty so high it cleared the incinerator?

I doubt it, unless he hit it behind himself.

Looking back Joe, I was pissed off when Little just weasled away in to the sunset at the end of that season. Can't think why, he was absolutely shite.

A 'strange man' with the libido of a recently released prisoner in a brothel, if the rumours are to be believed.
