Watching Pulisball all season isn’t quite so bad now he seems to have kept us up. I just hope he can evolve his tactic so we can see a bit better football next season. An inspired signing in Beattie and Fuller (who were wanting him sacked after the Griff debacle?) seems to be finding his best form just at the right time.

I think we have evolved as the season has gone on spiderman, I would suggest as the better players have come in our general play has improved. The fact that we have bettered our position in the table despite a noticable lack of Rory assisted goals (that we had relied on a fair bit early on) speaks volumes for me.

As a 26 year old quite simply the best ever football season of my life and by a distance, every other season was just a tester/preparation for this one.

TBF Spidey has always had respect for Pulis but disliked his style. Personally i enjoy the long balls as we see alot of balls into the box which always create chances and exciting moments. In Fuller/Lawrence/Etherington we have players who can do a little magic at times to mix it up a little.

(Jamo) Or does the fact that the lack of goals from the Rory throw in just mean other teams have sussed it out. I don’t think the style of play has changed it’s just that Pulis has been forced into making changes that have proven to be more effective than his first choice (mamma, Salif just 2 examples).

Spiderman:
Best get used to it mate because I don't think TP will ever radically change his style because it has proved to be a 'winner' for him. What he will do (hopefully) is gradually improve the quality of the squad so that we play 'his' game better and with a little more flair. Those who have thus far criticised his tactics would, I'm confident, be perfectly happy with them if we were a little better at executing them and retained posession better.
TP will never be an 'expansive/free-flowing football' man in my opinion but that doesn't mean that he can't produce an exciting and entertaining team. That simply requires a little more quality on the pitch. Given the players he's got/has been able to attract, his tactics are understandable and pretty successful.

Possibly a bit of both although I don't think Rory's been quite on the money since his shoulder injury (although things are improving) I think the signings of Beattie and Ethers were always going to make the XI that started on Saturday our first choice, but in fairness to TP, (despite me getting very bloody frustrated how long it took to get that XI) we did have various injuries and suspensions (I would have risked it earlier for what it's worth)

It's a slow evolution. With better players comes better football eg, Beattie, Etherington.

This is some of the best football I have ever seen from a Stoke team. Apart from a couple of years in the 70's I have had to watch dreary rubbish season after season. I want us to keep playing like we are now - it suits the type of people who support Stoke - honest and hard working. As we shouted to West Brazil 'you can shove your pretty football up your arse'. Lets spend next season roughing up the prim a donas in the Prem even more. The more they complain the better it is. You never know, but they might get so worried about our reputation that we might just win something. Pretty football is the quickest route to relegation. If England played like Stoke, we would win the World Cup and it would be a lot more exciting to watch.
