Yesterday was 1 of the best days I've ever had in my many years supporting Stoke.
It started with me driving up to Stoke to pick up my Dad ( in the last few months he's been a full time carer for my Mum & needed a break ). We then drove down to WBA to meet up with a friend. My friend went to school with Jeremy Peace(WBA owner) & had said he could get us tickets.
2 days before the game he phoned me to say we needed to come in jacket & tie because we were going into the boardroom!
So just a normal day really! In the ground by 1pm suited & booted, being offered free drinks & within 5 minutes talking to Peter Coates.
I ask him do we have any injuries - Mama, Salif & Faye - Faye? - Heart attack time! - Abdy or Amdy? - Amdy ( so thats why he wasn't on the bench ).
He then starts talking to my dad & tells him that he started watching Stoke when his dad took him in 1948. My dad knowing that if they start talking about money he's going to lose gets in that his 1st game was when he was 10 in 1942 ;D
They then start talking about how good some guys named Matthews, Steele & Franklin were.Never heard of them myself ;D ;D
We then get a 3 course lunch ( with great wine ).
Surprise, surprise the view from the directors box is superb & the seats are more comfortable than the ones at home.
When Stoke scored the first I thought do I jump up or not - then I saw the Peter Coates celebrating as hard as the 3000 other Stokies & realised that unlike being in the away end where celebrating when Stoke score is not a good idea( that was difficult when the 2nd went in at Villa!) it was Ok here.
Obviously a great result made it the perfect day.
A few points for you.
1. Boy was the Stoke end an amazing sight! ( and yes we are the loudest fans in the country).
2. Fat Jez was on the table with Peace/ Coates ( hes actaully not that fat anymore ) & I overheard him thank Coates for the money for Oli.
3. Most amusing part of the day? Nick Hancock at halftime being refused entry to a room I was in!
4. Bednar should have been sent off at the end - he hit Wilko in the face ( but showing more & more maturity as games go on he just got on with the game ).
Back in the boardroom at the end my dad couldn't resist a final cup of coffee & a free piece of fruit cake!
I realise that it really was my lucky day when my accumulator bet of Stoke, Arsenal & bolton to win with Hull to draw has come up - I don't mention that the bet is with Bet365 as Coates shakes my hand ( at this stage Keith Humphries is smiliing like the Cheshire Cat & telling everyone its been 37 games since we last won away in the top flight ).
The winning lottery numbers for next Saturday are 3 10 17 25 28 45 - Bonus Ball 15 ;D

Yes indeed. As good as it was I'm hoping I don't get invited back to another WBA - Stoke game for a few years!

We had a good day too.
Following the game we met up with a mate who I had not seen for 10 months, who happens to be a Westbrom supporter and went for a curry in Wolverhampton.
Enjoyed the game, enjoyed meeting up with a good friend and enjoyed the curry. Great day !

Jacka - Remember the value of your bet can go down as well as up & past performance is no guide to the future!
