I think if they don't find a buyer before the end of the season they are gone. They are about £27 mil in debt so are on very dodgy ground.

I mean there is banter in football and everything but i would hate to see any club go out of business, even the vale. It would be a very sad day for football if southampton or any club for that matter cease to exist. Something needs doing and quick!!!

It would be tragic if Southampton went out of business. It just shows what can happen to a club that gets the Premiership Millions and treats it like its never going to run out. Charlton look like they might be headed the same way and they are STILL receiving premiership money!

Its a basic blackmail tactic to hurry up any potential investors or saints fans with big pockets

I was going to say wrighter that it is tragic that a city the size and significance of Southampton could lose its football club, but then I realised that I would be overjoyed if Leeds went to the wall!

I think this is tragic.
It is also not helped by fans all too willing to forgo their local/birthplace club and hop on the gloryhunting badwagon. Such an example has been Fiona Phillips who has been on 5live all this week telling us that she used to support Southampton as that's where she is from but has found herself going to watch Chelsea and now supports them instead. She has also been speaking for all of us when she say's that 'everyone will be hoping Newcastle don't go down' and that 'everyone has a soft spot for Newcastle'!!! This ditching of the club you should have an affiliation for has also been noticed at my childrens' primary school where the parents (one of whom is a Stoke supporter) of two boys have been seemingly quite willng to buy their sons a Manchester United top and a Liverpool top. Why, FFS!!!??? It would never happen in my house. Rant over!!!

In all seriousness, I would not like to see any club go to the wall, including the Vale. I'd say ManUre but...I think I'd rather see them playing the likes of Leeds and Crewe in Division 3/2/1 depending on who's sponsoring it at the time.

agreed, i hate to say it, but i and many many others predicted that this would happen years ago.
and, my son will only support stoke , if he wants a man ure or liverpool top he will have to find it himself and i wont be taking him anywhere but stoke
and, i would love to see man ure go out of business, but also playing in league 2 would be great!
and as for that stupd woman on radio 5, well , a complaint should be made to the bbc because she doesnt speak for everyone and sh is talking absolute garbage (liscence fee? - my arse)

doing it for erasurebot, I did send an email letting them know what I thought. That was on Wednesday. Today, she still said about 'everyone having a soft spot for Newcastle'. They have got to be in my top 5 most hated teams in England!

Remember some of their fans who used to come on here, always giving it the big un and putting us down?..Remember a couple of seasons ago when about thirty of their idiots tried to pick fights with lads half their age after the game..I do.. sorry I couldnt care less..

I think some of you are missing the point of what is going on at Southampton. They think they have found a way of cancelling most of their debts without any penalty from the football authorities.
It is their holding company that is supposedly in trouble, but this isn't the club itself. According to the powers that be at the Saints, they are therefore safe from a points deduction.
Just like Leicester before them, they think they have found a technicality that will save them. Needless to say fans of Luton, Bournemouth, Leeds etc are up in arms about it all.
I hope that Southampton aren't trying to 'pull a fast one' here and I also hope that they are not in severe difficulties.

I really detest that Fiona 'Bleeding heart' Phillips with a passion. I thought (hoped) she'd disappeared for good when she gave up GMTV.
Vacuous comments from an annoying talking head. As they say the emptiest vessels make the loudest noise.
