I`ve watched footy for years and followed Stoke since the mid 70`s but which ever league they were in I`ve always kept an eye on the other divisions, especially Div 1/ Prem.
Now is it because we are in it or has this seasons Prem thrown up the best season ever ?
The title race twists and turns every week and the battle at the other end is just as exciting. It seems everyone has something to play for. I cant recall a season like it... or is that `cus we are there ?
;D

I think it''s been a great season so far. Not least because of the varying talking points. The talk has been of Hull and Rory's throws. Everton are emerging as a force to be reckoned with and despite dropping off now Villa have proven you can become competitive without having to spend billions. The Spurs struggle in the first half of the season was intriguing and now Modric is fulfilling his potential and showing his class they are becoming a great side to watch.
We have played a full part in all this. Look at the games on telly. OK we don't like losing but that second half home to Everton was a great. Any neutrals would have enjoyed that. The game when we beat Spurs was a cracker. Us being on top over ten men but couldn't quite finish them off led to a thrilling finale.
So we are playing a full part in an exciting season.

Yes, this season the Premiership has looked much like the Championship does every year in terms of competetiveness at both ends of the table. I hope the title stays in doubt well into May and (purely out of hatred for ManU and Chelsea) I hope Liverpool win.
If I have to be picky then I wish Villa and Everton could make just a bit more progress and condemn Arsenal to miss out on the Champion's League next season. That isn't particularly that I dislike Arsenal any more than any other top four club - but it is about time that the clubs competing in the Champions League had some new blood added to the mix.
At the bottom, I think West Brom are deservedly doomed - we think TP is stubborn but Mowbray must have a degree in stubbornness to refuse to add some backbone to his side. I hope Hull stay up (with us of course) it is their first ever season in the top flight and they and their fans deserve another year if not longer. As to who should join the Baggies for the drop - I think Boro are finished and I'm not too bothered who joins them. Maybe Newcastle deserve the drop more than most for their owner's general incompetance - how Ashley became as rich as he is mystifies me. Whatever business brain he has must have deserted him during his time at Newcastle.
This season has been better than I dared hope. I never expected us to fulfill the predictions of the doom mongers and "do a Derby" but I did expect we'd get thrashed much more than we have and I did expect we'd spend more time rooted in the bottom three than we have. To go into April with a decent chance of not only staying up but of reaching as high as 12th in the table feels like a minor miracle. Whatever happens in the next few weeks thank you to everyone who has made it happen - TP, Coates, the players and the massed ranks of Stokies. I never thought the Brit could match the atmosphere of the Old Vic but last Saturday it came damned close! ;D

I am not sure exiting is the right word. When we romped to victory in 92/93 that was fun. But as with the pottermouth era last season there is a squeeky bum time potentially just around the corner. If we get a couple of good results in out next matches and we can get to 40 points sooner rather than later, perhaps I can look back at things differently.
Don't get me wrong I have enjoyed every minute of proving so many people wrong about us so far. No matter what we do we will not change their opinions which may or may not be based on nothing more than misguided preconceptions. Do we care - not a jot, 'we are stoke'.
Fantastic, brilliant, never thought I would see it in my lifetime ... all of these things but exciting is not one I would choose.
TP has stuck to his principles and made us hard to beat, we may have a terrible away record but we have not rolled over easily (well maybe a couple of times) and teams do not look forward to playing us.
As forny says, the atmosphere is better than I ever remember apart from a few odd games over the years.
3-0 up by half time at the baggies and I will be more than happy to chomp through my words and admit to being excited!

Whatever happens to us its been a great season. For me the best thing to happen would be Liverpool to win the league and Newcastle to go down. Its been really competitive. Next season I see Spurs, Villa, Everton and Man City really challenging the top four.
AS for us things are looking great, if we stay up and I expect us to, the future is really rosy, its bloody brilliant.

Yeah it has been a really quality season - who would have though: Stoke drawing to Liverpool...Twice Liverpool losing to Boro...two nil Fulham pushing for Europe after beating Man Ure Man City doing relatively crap after spending allt that money And Stoke not being down by November
