This team is for English players aged 21 or under at the start of a two-year European Under-21 Football Championship campaign, so players can be, and often are, up to 23 years old. Thats why James Milner at 23 has 41 caps because he started playing the qualification games when he was 21.
The same is true for friendly games

We've known about Ryan's growth in the past year for a month or so. yes, of his growth i am aware, however i'm a little concerned about the term 'condition.' It infers a malady of some kind.

Well it is unusual to still be growing aged 21. It can have some very negative results on the health of the ligaments and bones of the legs. Let's hope it doesn't bother him too badly.

"Condition" suggests he could be 8 foot by the time he is 25 ;D .

I understand that Shaun Wright-Phillips suffers from the same problem

who was that donkey up front for Stockport, Francis? he was the tallest player I have ever seen! though I was a nipper at the time Crouch the Giraffe is probably just as tall.
Ryan needs to fill out a little those extra two inches the rest of his body needs to catch up, eat some oatcakes lad !

It's not unusual for a male to be still growing at Ryan's age, the danger area for him and us is that he's going to have a weaker spine than he should have till he finishes growing so as we've already seen he's vulnerable to injury there.

Suppose we only ever see Ryan stood next to the tree trunk Abdy, he looks practically anorexic compared to that man mountain when he's actually put together himself

In some cases, it can rightly be referred to as a 'condition'. Most youngsters grow in spurts, but not too fast and their bodies are able to cope. In some cases, it is extremely rapid and the body can't cope...hence it becomes a 'condition'. Ryan's problem is that he is playing in a sport that places great strain on the body. I believe that the generally accepted age for growth to stop is 24. That doesn't mean that Ryan will have problems until he is 24. If this curent spurt stops and he can build his body to adapt to his new height, he will probably grow slowly for the rest of his development. I would think he'll settle at around 6' 6". Given the rapid progress in his game and him being a solid man by the time he's 24, he should have a brilliant future ahead of him. However, it's absolutely critical that he should be 'nursed' through this difficult time in his growing life or he could sustain serious injuries that would cause a premature end to his career.

It sounds like a condition called Osgood schlatters which affects an area just below the knee and is usually associated with rapid growth spurts in teenagers , my daughter suffered from it when she used to do a lot of running ,takes about 6-8 weeks to clear.
