For anyone worried about the West Brom game, here are some facts and figures which might give you just a tad more confidence. And also for Sutton Tiger, who seems confident (and no doubt desperately hopeful) that we're going to lose at the Hawthorns - this is probably something you need to know... Stoke City vs West Bromwich Albion - league games since 1988/89: Season | Home | Away | 1989/90 | W 2-1 | D 1-1 | 1991/92 | W 1-0 | D 2-2 | 1992/93 | W 4-3 | W 2-1 | 1993/94 | W 1-0 | D 0-0 | 1994/95 | W 4-1 | W 3-1 | 1995/96 | W 2-1 | W 1-0 | 1996/97 | W 2-1 | W 2-0 | 1997/98 | D 0-0 | D 1-1 | 2003/04 | W 4-1 | L 0-1 * | 2006/07 | W 1-0 | W 3-1 | 2007/08 | W 3-1 | D 1-1 | 2008/09 | W 1-0 | ? |
* 2 men sent off! Totals: Played 23, Won 16, Drew 6, Lost 1, Scored 40, Conceded 18. There, is that better now? ;D ;D

scfclifer i like the 01/03 away kit the light blue one whos the chap that was designing kits? maybe that kit with the diagonal stripes, wonder how that would look?
Back to the football a win on saturday week would be brilliant for us our first away win with the points in the bag would give the lads so much more confidence away from the Bearpit that anythings possible even grinding out a point at Arsenal, ive seen a white van on the A50 with the reg WBA 1 would love to have the scarfs out the window on that day, second thoughts might turn into Jeepers Creepers 3!!!!!

;D I said the same when my Dad told me not to expect too much from the Boro game as we are 'due to lose at home', I just said we're also due an away win, so that balances it out Goarrrn Stoke

I am not worried at all, West Brom have been at the bottom of the table for the majority of the season for a reason. THEY ARE SHIT.

That just makes me think we're due a loss We've only actually won there on one of our last four league visits (and lost two of the last five, if you include the cup defeat). We are due another win! ;D

Andy,
I very much appriciate you trying to calm all our fears for this critical match. But past results means nothing. In which way can a football match that took place 10-15 years ago influence next Saturday's game?
The notion of a 'Bogie team' makes no sense. You can flip a coin 6 times and get 6 heads but this in no way will influence the 7th flip.

I'm not taking the West Brom game for granted at all.
They will be looking at this one as a possible three points for them as, on paper at least, a home game to a team in the bottom reaches of the league would be one they would expect to win.
Indeed they NEED to win it to have any chance of survival - they have every reason to fight. A draw would be ok for us but not for them. A win would give them a massive confidence boost going in to the final games.
That said if we can hold them at bay for long enough then they might start getting nervous and starting doubting themselves. If we get the first goal then I can see a few West Brom heads going down.

I don't think they matter much on match day Yet you do hold a lot of sway by previous results, given that your reasoning for thinking we'll lose (at least, partly) relates to how poor our past away results have been...
