Glasgow Evening Times 25th January Moore in Villa appeal by Darrell King
LUKE MOORE is hoping Aston Villa will lower their £3.5m valuation of him so he can seal a move to Rangers.
SportTimes understands the 21-year-old striker has set his heart on a switch to Ibrox before the transfer window closes next Thursday night.
But with Rangers reluctant to shell out the kind of money that Villa want for a player who only has 16 months of his contract to run, Moore is attempting to get his club to drop their price.
Villa boss Martin O'Neill confirmed this week that Gers gaffer Walter Smith had contacted him over Moore. advertisement
Rangers were set to secure Moore on a pre-contract for a Bosman summer move, then ask Villa to name a price to take him now.
But that plan was scuppered when O'Neill activated Villa's option of taking a further year on the striker's contract.
Moore (inset) was unhappy at the club's stance, having turned down two new contract offers. He came through their ranks and hopes Villa will lower their cash demands.
A source close to the deal said: "Rangers are obviously reluctant to pay £3.5m for a player they almost had for nothing.
"Luke's agent, Steve Kutner, is working on things with the club and they hope to get the price down. He wants to sign for Rangers and has his heart set on the move now."

Name: Byron Moore Nationality: British Date of Birth: 24/08/1988 Position: Striker
Squad Number: 18 Birthplace: Stoke
Signed: May 2007 CAFC Debut: 11/08/07 v Brighton (h) The Stoke-born Moore can play up front or in wide areas and has made arguably the most progress of last year's Academy scholars. The skilful Moore came on against a strong Liverpool side in pre-season and then did exceeding well when starting the 1-0 win over Forest Green. Moore is a great prospect, who has been handed the number 18 shirt for this coming season. Byron signed a new three year contract extension in September 2007 which will keep him with the Alex until 2010.
