Lancs Eve Telegraph
Clubs set to scrap over Gally
PAUL Gallagher could be heading out of Ewood Park on loan - and there's a clutch of Championship clubs ready to scramble for his services.
Telegraph Sport understands Blackburn boss Mark Hughes is willing to listen to inquiries for the young Scot, with Sheffield Wednesday, Stoke City, Coventry and Preston North End among a posse of clubs eager to take him until the end of the season.
But Maceo Rigters' proposed move to Germany could be in danger of falling through at the 11th hour because Arminia Bielefeld - the club that want to take him on loan - are struggling to off-load players to make room for him in their wage structure.
Hughes is not keen on the idea of loaning out both Gallagher and Rigters, but if the latter's switch to the Bundesliga fails to materialise, then the Rovers boss would be willing to let Gallagher go out instead.
The 23-year-old has failed to even force his way onto the bench since returning from a loan spell at Preston earlier in the month and it is believed he would welcome the chance to get regular first-team football elsewhere.
Aside from the possibility of Gallagher and Rigters going out, Rovers chairman John Williams is expecting a fairly quiet day on the transfer front leading up to this evening's midnight deadline. advertisement
Williams and manager Mark Hughes have been inundated with phonecalls from agents offering them a host of players over the last few days but, at the time of going to press, none were deemed exciting enough to follow up.

I wouldnt mind if that one came off. Better than what we have in my opinion and was a class act when he was here last time.

Depends if he wants to be in a promotion chase, or wants an easy life at Preston again with no M6 travel?

PNE may still be favourites purely on geographical reasons
thats if we are still interested of course.

I've said this before, we should BUY him and play him in the Centre of midfield alongside Diao.

To us, yes. But he seemed to go with location, location, location, last time (to Preston - down the road)?

we should indeed be looking @ buying him.
I dont think he could play,imho,CM in a 442
would suit a 451 though (in a free role)
TP would want him as wide left though - which is where he played his best stuff last time.

Should we try to get Rigters too? Isn't he the Dutch U21 international striker?

Stenny: i think it was his girlfriends bro or something (may have been his pops as well, not sure) & he was fairly frank & accurate if i remember - so yes, come back "brfc1".
It was on the old oatie though, he'll get lost.

I've said this before, we should BUY him and play him in the Centre of midfield alongside Diao. Too lightweight to play in the centre of midfield. He was found wanting in that department when Boskamp played him in a central striking role too. Did great for us on left though.

Wasn't that also rumoured to be the "other" deciding factor in him not coming here & going to Preston last time? i.e. TP offered him left wing whereas he wanted to play up top proper.
(That said, he played left wing @ Deepdale i think?)

We were his 2nd choice behind preston last time, the 2 reasons he chose them over us is that he has a young daughter and wants to be nearer her and secondly he wants to play as a striker which pulis ruled out.

We've established that; the point being though - has anything changed to make him want to come here this time?
Apart from being 4th already and guaranteed auto promo of course !
