In my mind there is no doubting we missed Sidibe's presence today.
Whether that was down to tactics or lack of understanding is open to discussion.
But it certainly kills the myth spread by the likes of Bunny that Mama is a shocking footballer and BT and Fuller are our best partnership.
Tin hat on.

I thought Beattie and Fuller had a far better understanding than Beattie and Mama.

Sidibe hasn't been at his best since his return from injury.
However, great introduction today as we won no long balls forward today, or from set pieces.
As soon as he came on, defenders were wrestling him and Shawcross had a free header. Game over.

I think there's space in our team for Sidibe, Fuller and Beattie.

Quite right, we do miss Mama, but how do we fit him in now?
Having said that, it was no coincidence that we finally scored with Mama on the pitch. He occupied 2 or 3 defenders and Ryan had the room to score.
Credit to TP for delaying and delaying the substitution until that vital moment that Mama would cause most chaos.

Evens I couldn't agree more and said that just after five minutes. However, I must admit I wanted Mama to start on the bench this game. He came on at the right time to take Ryan's markers away from him, some might say it was a masterstroke from Tone ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/0m0lbCuTEBzaRn6f8QaM.gif)

I don't think it's the fact we missed Mama, the reason we were poor today was the midfield struggled to find the forwads with quality balls in the first half, we just resorted to lumping hopeful balls up to them.
Second half we managed to get the wingers behind the fullbacks and provide service from there. I thought Fuller was well below par today, it seemed he wanted to play the man and win free kicks rather than win the ball and attack the Boro defence.

`same old fuller`. if he spent more time picking his arse up off the floor & getting back to an on-side position & less time whining he`d be a far better player. i`m not saying for 1 minute that some of the attenrion he got today was`bt rough and he deserved more protection from the ref but he seems to be looking for the free kicks & refs aren`t giving them to him often, he could take a leaf from mama & beatties book and roll his sleeves up & do what he does best as ric really can be a lethal punisher.

Spot on.1st half, the endless balls pumped up front were getting gobbled up by the Boro defence.Beattie was visibly pissed off. Ethers made a hell of a difference when he came on.

To be fair we got no change from Wheater and Huth at The Riverside either.

Agreed, we just generally weren't much good first half and also they were well prepared for what we were likely to do. I'd start Ric on the bench next time I'm afraid.

I think our problem is that we have two get out balls - Etherington and Mama. Neither were on the pitch so we just smacked the ball to where Mama would have been in the hope that Beattie would get it to Fuller.

Spot on Mark. Let's hope that Pulis uses the next two weeks in training to practice starting with Lenny and Ethers on the flanks with Rory and Glenn in the middle. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/KYqg3pYeaerc5lD_P7BR.gif)

Whelan wasn't in the game today.
He found no space in a congested and tight modfield and nobody found him.

Where was our midfield today? Playing Delap wide left was a mistake. He should have played inside but anywhere today, he looked knackered. Ethers should have started. Diao, of whom I have previously been a big fan, was dire. Whelan was off his game. LL was our best midfielder today, closing their players down as soon as they got the ball. All in all, it was a poor game between two ineffectual teams.Certainly the worst WE have played at home this season. They looked likeliest to score, but having said that, our back four played a cracking game between them. Thought Wilko was playing a blinder before he was taken off. A. Faye was his usual masterful self. Shawx's reading of the game is tremendous, and Higgy is just a solid, uncomplicated old fashioned defender, albeit being played out of postion. Fuller was willing but very closely marked, and BT didn't get enough balls to run on. We got the points, and at this stage, that is all that counts. All in all, no complanits.

play beattie, Sidibe, Fuller up front.
1 Holding midfielder (we have enough of them).
2 Wingers (Ethers, Ryan, Liam etc)
Solid back four.
All three forwards play well together, Sidibe is priceless in the air and the Fuller/Beattie combination seems deadly. just my opinion...

Beattie & Fuller stood no chance of winning balls infront of boro's centre backs!
