Just noticed on BBC that the fee was only £1.5m. I thought Spurs were asking for £3m, which is why I assume a lot of clubs were put off.
I guess we could've afforded that if we really wanted him, but I don't think he would've wanted to come here whether Villa were in for him or not. Good signing for Villa though, think he'll do well there.

The Luke Moore / Marlon Harewood rumour might well surface again as they now have plenty of attacking options with Routledge. I for one would be ecstatic if we got one of those two...even on loan!

I think we can rule Harewood out, but Luke Moore is definately a goer. Would take some pressure off Fuller.

O'Neill was pretty categoric on his refusal to loan Harewood last week
"I've had a host of interest in him but I've never had any intention of taking advantage of that. I want him here for us. He has said he wants to play here and wants to fight for his chance here."
And hasn't Moore been in the multi-million pound bracket himself whenever he's been linked away this window?
Rangers were mentioned, weren't they?

ffs Luke Moore is absolutely shite, ive seen him play 2 or 3 times and every single time he has been awful
has anyone even bothered to look at his goal record since hes been around the villa 1st team, I think he would struggle to score goals in the championship
I agree we need nother striker to take the pressure off Fuller but money could be spend much better elsewhere

Fair points both! We can dream though can't we??!! I have to say that if we can get just ONE quality striker in before the window, or even on loan after it closes, the City would be BUZZING! Imagine the excitement. At the moment, as positive as we are are trying to be, I think we are all waiting for another Stoke City bubble to burst. I hope we can at least get into the playoffs as I think we are a match / capable of beating anyone over two legs, and the final is simply shit or bust.

An 18 month contract on a 23 year (ish) old player seems to suggest that he is a player that needs to sort his performances out - reckon Villa could have made a shrewd signing there

Villa signing Routledge isn't going to free up a left sided player as Routledge is a right winger - or at least I think he is.
