shocking i know! 4th in the league! and the tight gits still wont fork out to support the mighty potters! On tht we don't deserve to go up, it makes me so mad, then they all got the bottle to come on here and moan about pulis and the team ridiculous
Come on the potters and the loyal fans!

Sheff Wed only half fill their ground. Does that make their fans disloyal?

If you think that everyone who voices any criticism of St Tony, or the team does not attend matches, then you are wrong.
Plenty who persistently back Tone do not attend also. Life is all about balance you see!
I see myself as firmly on the fence BTW, before you make any assumptions.
I'd say there are many reasons to our crowd size, but the % one is a bit of a sham, because it effectively penalizes teams for having the ambition to build grounds for the future. If the Brit were an 18k capacity, the figures would look different. I'd take no notice, as you can make statistics tell you anything you ant if you ask the right questions.

we all know our support is really shite.
but tbh i would rather see a 14,000 hardcore than the extra 8,000 gloryhunters.
would make promotion all the more sweeter!

I'd argue that our core support is one of the most loyal around. For the last 20 years we have consistently averaged between 13000 and 16000 irrespective of our fortunes.
Other clubs have seen their support fluctuate massively over the same period. Who needs the fairweather fans anyway.........

We might not have the numbers, but I think we make up for it in noise

I think the atmosphere's bin pretty good recently at the Brit, if you look at the Norwich, West Brom and Newcastle games

you look at our position and then you see those stats...
There is nothing to say to the contrary....
our ground is half full every week.
But the supporters who do go are fantastic!
Perhaps we cannot be considered a well-supported club anymore and those 20,000 plus crowds just make me annoyed when the next match in the league there is only 14,000.
But i suppose it is how the team is doing on the pitch which is all that matters.

our support is no different to the likes of Bolton, Charlton, Middlesborough, Leicester, Derby with one exception; they have made the promised land of the Premiership which has increased their core support.
A couple of seasons in the big time and we would be the same

We have a big fan base but because of whatever reason they don't come to watch. Despite what some say the style of play and Pulis are two of the reasons. It's sad but true!

The percentage stat is bollocks kidsgrove and you should know that
Our percentage will ALWAYS be lower because we allocate 5000 seats to away fans and never sell the block of seats nearest the away end
Not even Newcastle brought near 5000 so thats already 10%-17% down before you take into account our home fans which is alright if you bring into account no prem football, mixed results over the years, low paid area etc etc

yes but even if we had half of the south stand the attendances would still have been the same wouldn't it

Good point CashBack, but all the same it's embarrassing that we're not getting up to 16 or 18,000 regularly. The atmosphere is definitely getting better, it's partly a matter of enough memorable games and generally getting more history at the Brit under our belts. The club's doing better at reaching out too so everything's going in the right direction, but we could still do a few extra cut-price games in the run-in. Other than that, as ever it's about more Stokies getting off their arses...
There's a big difference from 20 or 30 years ago though and you can see it on this board - people almost never used to move away from S-o-T and now a lot do. They're incredibly loyal but you just can't ask people to make 200 mile-plus round trips week in week out.

another thing. half of them stadiums are full because they've just been promoted. or been back down from premiership. or they're like 5,000. or are like big teams. WBA. Charton. etc.
