ADEBOLA SET TO SIGN Posted on: Wed 30 Jan 2008
City are poised to clinch the signing of Dele Adebola from Coca-Cola Championship rivals Coventry City on transfer deadline day.
bcfc.co.uk can exclusively reveal tonight that City have agreed an undisclosed fee with Coventry and personal terms with the 32-year-old striker. The deal is now subject to a medical tomorrow.
Adebola has been with Coventry since 2003, having joined the Warwickshire club from Crystal Palace on a free transfer. He also enjoyed two brief loan spells at Bradford and Burnley during his time with the Sky Blues.
The forward commanded a £1m fee in 1998 when Birmingham signed him from Crewe, the club where he began life in the professional game.

Fook sake. Pull your fooking finger out Stoke, we've only signed defenders in this window.

Not a huge surprise - but our most likely "Big Lump" target a gonner.
Not the best & he won't change the world granted, but I still believe that it's no good thing that he has gone to Brizzle.
For the kind of money he will have gone for, he would have been well worth a pop (especially had we had him while mama was away).

I'm glad he's gone there instead of to us.
No better than what we have.

Knowlsey: I think we can safely rely on the "no smoke without fire" maxim re the McSheffrey story if we want to know who's going to appear at Coventry very soon.

That's 2 big lumps Cov have lost in 1 day. I wonder if they're interested in one of ours. I would've taken Adebola though

He's worth the £250k just to stop him scoring against us.

Part ii:
But that said, if you can get them to take Vince for...well, just to take him really, then you will be carried shoulder high around the City my friend.
;D
For the reason above, and that he might just knock a couple in, me too.

Perhaps a McSheff and Vince dream team? Or just Vince? OK, you've twisted my arm Mr Dowie, you take Vince and we will do you a favour and take McSheff so you don't have to suffer

Could this mean Pulis has someone else lined up ? surly if we were in for him we would have beaten or a least matched there bid/wages and with us being in the midlands that would have given us a advantage. If we weren't in for him then the only explanation is we have our sights on someone else. Eh I'm clutching at straws, we ain't signing anyone

we WONT sign anyone until deadline night.
it was pretty obvious by the way Tone was talking after the preston game.

I only commented last night (as per Denty's sentiments above), "I wish we would sign Adebola, if only to stop him scoring against us".
Seriously though, on his day, Adebola is almost unplayable, and at that sort of money, he would do us a great job in the short term. He is Mama but with pace and SOME goals!
An ideal partner for Fuller I would have thought and at a price we could afford.

Bristol City are lucky and now they have him, you could put money on it now he'll score against us in April!
did he score when Cov beat us in November? I seem to remember he did

He always does - and always looks like Didier sodding Drogba when he ventures to The Brit.

Another example of a team recognising that they need strengthening in certain areas of the field and going out and doing something about it.
As great as all of our signings are, we have bought two extra in in January, both are defensively focussed players, and both were here last season. Why do we find it so hard to bring men in????

Adebola -
464 Appearances over 15 years with 141 goals including cups. That's 0.3 goal a game. Hardly prolific apart from against us.
