Did anyone catch Griff's guide to the squad last year? I think it was on Radio Stoke towards the end of the season - Griff was basically going through the team and hi-lighting nicknames and funny stories. Didn't record it and don't know if it was available after on the webiste - was funny though. The only nickname I can remember though is Pugh - "Rambo". ;D

Didn't he refer to Chris Riggott as "Son of Sam Allardyce" (large head reference)?

Tom ''Arto'' Soares deserves far wider circulation than it gets.

I can remember Vince Overson mentioning a few players' nicknames in his programme notes in the mid-nineties. He reckoned that one (unnamed) player didn't take too kindly to the nickname "Zeppelin-head". I've always wondered who he was talking about.

Russell had left by then. The only player I could think of at the time whose head may have been a little "Zeppeloid" when viewed from the side was John Gayle.
