I've just finished my PhD and about to submit the final version of my thesis to the library. It is tradition to stick a quote at the start only I'm struggling to find a good one. PhD was in physics so a science related one would be the convention but one from a stokie legend would be cool. Anyone got any suggestions?

Can't find and Stoke ones. There are some vaguely physics related:
'He went through a non-existant gap.' - CLIVE TYLDESLEY
'The pace of the match is really accelerating, by which I mean it is getting faster all the time.' - DAVID COLEMAN
'The silence is getting louder.' - DAVE WOODS
'He was in the right place at the right time, but he might have been elsewhere on a different afternoon.' - TONY GUBBA
From another dimension completely is this one:
Tony Mowbray: "It's no good having money in the bank and no good players out on the pitch."

"and there is Ola Petrova from Romania, I tip her as a future champion. I saw her snatch this morning, and it was magnificent" (David Coleman)
"Ah, isn't that nice, the wife of the Cambridge president is kissing the cox of the Oxford crew." (Harry Carpenter)

Yes that is quite inspirational. But here's another quote from a Stokie "If anybody ever tells you anything about an aeroplane which is so bloody complicated you can't understand it, take it from me: it's all balls. ” — R. J. Mitchell

Stolen from Ghostface/Will_scfc's signiature
Metaphorically, the 'Midas touch' is defined as someone of good fortune, for whom everything they touch "turns to gold".
Tony Scholes is said to have the 'Andrex touch.'
Always makes me giggle
