I am getting bored of reading all the 'Pulis isnt up to it' posts. We are currently doing really well in the best league in the world and if at the start of the season someone had said to you that we would be in this position then we would have all taken it, just look at Derby, alot of people thought we would be as bad as them but we arnt.
Are you not happy with where we are

No I'm not happy where we are.
Derby were a very poor side when they played in this division.
We are a better side and I believe after seeing most of the opposition teams that the premier league isn't as hard as I thought it was.
Not a stroll but there are a lot of teams in there who are no better than us and we have given them too much respect.

personally, Pulis has the squad and ability to produce the best out of every player we have and i am made up with our progress to date. He does, however, make me want to rip my hair out with his blatent stubborness to readdress our system when we are 2 goals down. I hope it doesn't ultimately be our downfall

It makes me laugh when people say the Prem isn't as good as they thought it would be! Four Prem teams are in the last eight of the worlds greatest cup competition and the prem is the envy of the world!
Of the four untouchables we have currently played seven won one drawn two lost four, so not too bad a record! Maybe we are much better than most of us realise? Only one team has outclassed us at Stoke and one team hammered us away from home (both in the top two)
If two years ago someone had told us that TP would not only get us to the Prem but he'd have a good chance of keeping us there they'd have been slated by BBM, HG, Archiesdad and OldStokie as idiots.

There's no black and white in the argument about what 'success' would look like this season, is there?
It's a pretty tricky thing to judge. It's difficult to know where to place the bar.
But I think if any team was adrift, Derby-like, after spending nudging £30m with a wage bill of probably £25m, serious questions would be asked.
Coates went above and beyond what we were all expecting in the support he provided last year.
And he certainly has done during the Premier campaign, dwarfing the kind of expenditure of Hull, Derby, and Reading as promoted teams. He hasn't just given it a go, he's gone mad. I think I'm right in saying Derby spent less than £10m last season, and some of that was when they were doomed in Janaury.
I can only remember Sunderland going as big as we have in recent seasons and the manager has had the leeway, unusually these days, to construct a squad entirely of his choosing with absolutely no inherited dross.
That's not to say it should guarantee anything at all at this level - it obviously proved very tough for him to get quality in the summer- but I think Derby's shambolic experience whipped us into a bit of a frenzy and placed the bar ridiculously low.
And, similarly, saying relegation would be failure puts the bar way too high, especially as we've hit upon a great formula at home which has delivered some great moments, which must be weighed against the occasionally shambolic performances away.
There's so many ways the season could go from here, so I suppose it's pretty pointless speculating on even the broad outlines of what a final analysis of 08/09 will look like

As Trebor said we have competed with the VERY BEST in the most superior league in world football
Liverpool - two draws Arsenal - win Villa - win and a draw Chelsea - led at the Bridge until 87th minute Shit - Should have had a point at home
I dont like the seemingly defensive attitude away from home, but TP and only TP can pick the team and employ the tactics
We were treated to the binary season, but in the end it kept us up, and stabilised us as a club, from hence we have moved forward
If we stay up this season and move forward yet again, I for one certainly wont be complaining about the style in which we do it

we could'nt attract top players in july we've done well . if we can stay up better players will come .like beattie and etherington . people we were after obviously thought we were going to go straight down so they wouldn't sign. if we'd had the current squad from day 1 i think we would be miles further up the league . what does everybody else think ?

After every month, the club has been a little bit stronger, either on or off the pitch.
We are in a stronger position than Brazil and have a better chance of staying up than Dull.
Anyone who thinks we should be doing better needs to call for matron as his medication needs renewing.

tony harrison where do you think we should be in the league As high as possible. A lot of those teams above us are not special in any way. Yes, some of them have big stars but if they don't play as a team then they are beatable. Look at Man City, we were crap at their place, Wigan and many others we didn't perform. Chelsea, we threw away a winning position in the end. Didn't expect anything there but as the game went on I wasn't expecting to lose. It is a step up from the championship but we have also stepped up the quality of our squad. We can beat these teams ! Goarn Stoke !!!
