OK, so there's a lot of oatcakers who feel pretty upset about the negative way we set up away from home and understandably so, however, could it be the thing tactic that keeps us up?
There's no doubt we could of perhaps picked up an away win if we had not employed these tactics but could it be the 'bonus point' that saves us come season close.
Looking at the table now there's : -
Stoke -17 Hull -16 Portsmouth -15 (game in hand v Manure) 'Boro -20 WBA -29(don't think they need to be considered) Newcastle and Blackburn -11 and -12 respectively
I think we can safely sat we're fighting to avoid 2 drop places
'Bonus point' wise, if we ignore the bottom 2, don't you think the tactic of trying to avoid a hiding could save us?
Very poorly written, sorry, but I think my point can be seen

It's looking more and more likely Hustler, especially with so many people playing each other before the end of the season and so many clubs still involved, could get very messy

someone will go down on goal difference i reckon I think so too. SN - You could also argue that regularly defending a one-goal lead won't help our cause any.

As a means to keeping our goal difference down, our away tactics aren't much use. Other than the clean-sheets at Liverpool and Wigan, we have conceded at least two goals in every game.
Indeed, the only times we have looked (relatively comfortable at the back), at Newcastle and Villa, second half of each, we have been more adventurous in our play.
The truth of the matter is that when we sit too deep, we look like we could concede any moment -and often do.

shiny lets all hope not, all of the top teams are playing those currently involved in the run it to avoid the drop, it will make for a very tense last day.
It was bad enough last year I would prefer not to have to go through that again!

Personally i think it will be goal difference for someone but not us, I don't think we'll be safe on the last day, I think another team will need a result to drag us in but won't get it
All makes for a fun day at the Emirates on my birthday !

I reckon Pompey will go down on goal difference, just losing out to Newcastle or Hull. We will be safe by then and 3-0 up at the Emirates. I didn't realise, are WBA really on -29 GD?? so much for "Total Carpet Championship Football".

I've been rattling on about this (as my mum would say) for a while now, I think there's a very good chance the third relegation place will go down to GD this year. The pleasant surprise is that ours isn't the second worst in the division anymore but it could still do us crucial damage.

It isn't getting better.
We could do with another 2 goal victory ( for only the 2nd time this season ) against Mboro.
Hopefully other teams tougher run in will allow them to catch up !

Have been saying it for ages. Worse, I said that GD could stop our promotion, especially in the binary season. You can't for ever (almost) win by the odd goal but lose by more and occasionally get thrashed and hope to do well. Apart from which it's no good fo my nerves.

Surely if we spent more time in the other half of the pitch this number would have been lower and our points total higher ?

Our away goal diference is minus 23. The worst in the division.
We have conceded 34 goals away from home. 7 more than anyone else.
Giving up possession and two thirds of the pitch away from home, while we sit 10 players within touching distance of our own penalty area has not really been a successful way of limiting damage to our goal difference has it?

Thing is every moment is worth fighting for. That late goal on Saturday and that late one from Ponceboy at Old Trafford could prove crucial. Newcastle's is healthiest of all us down there.
