Hi there, Boro fan here after some advice
Can any-one advise on where’s the best place to park, when we visit your ground next Saturday. Ideally I’d like it to be near the ground, and suitable for a quick get-away after the match. I read somewhere that the Holiday Inn was as good as anywhere ?
As for a few pre-match drinks, would the Holiday Inn be OK for that as well ?
Coming into Stoke from the M6, is it easy to find ?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated
Here's to three points for us ;D

3 points my arse fella you only raise your game against the big guns and our home form is pretty special as opposed your away record. Should be a cracker though, full house, good atmosphere and a win for the mighty potters a quick get away from the holiday inn is pretty much impossible, turns into gridlock after full time all around the brit, though you won't have to worry I'm sure as you'll have left with 10 mins to go ;D

The hotel is fine if you get there very early - 1pm to be sure. Also fine for a drink
However - as has been said - you would have to leave very early for a quick getaway. Alternatives - stop for a drink for half an hour or so in Delilah's after the game or park at Heron Cross - about 20 minutes walk

Parking at Heron's Cross.........any details please....where abouts is that....is there a pub nearby ?
Delilah's..............I assume thats a pub/club on the ground ?
Can we get in pre-match for a few drinks ?
Is there a car park on the ground................what's it like for (a) cost, and (b) getting away ?
Cheers guys

Delilahs is a pub thats part of the ground. You get in by the corner of the Boothen End. You have to pay before the game but its free afterwards.
There is a car park on the ground, £5 I believe, but its not the easiest to get off at full time and we have reportedly sold out so the car park will probabky be full aswell.
As you come off the M6 you will enter the A500. Stay on this road for a few miles until you come for the turning thats signposted Britannia Stadium. Go in the far left hand lane and stay there once your round the corner as this takes you upto the flyover. You know have 2 options. 1) Turn right over the flyover to the ground and surrounding area (Holiday Inn, Powerleague etc) or 2) go upto the roundabout and turn left for Heron Cross or right for Blurton. Parking is not great in either of these areas but there are some places to park.

When you have turned left at Heron Cross roundabout, next turn left at the lights (50 yards) then on to a school on your right (half mile) and in the same street ( second/third on your right) you will see parking at the end of this street at a bowling club where you can get a relaxed pint. Should be fine at 1pm
When you leave the bowling club look out for a pathway on the right of the main (Wheildon) road - this takes you onto a bridge over the A50 and down to the ground - there will be loads walking that way as ko approaches

Thanks so far chaps, much appreciated.
Anyone know the charge to get into Delilah's pre-match ?
Will Delilah's be showing the lunchtime SKY game ?
Would we just turn up and park at the ground, say about 12.30pm/1.00pm'ish, or do you need to book ?
Incidentally, why the name 'oatcake' ?

£2 to get in and usually shows Sky games.
An Oatcake is a North Staffs speciality - a savoury pancake but made with oat instead of wheat flour

I normally park there it's a quick getaway, it's called Remploy or something like that to do with jobs etc. conna be arsed looking it up, I know how to get there though.

Definitely not a quick get away from Remploy, quicker than some others but not quick. Try the charity car park by the mitch on Campbell road (get there early) it's left off the A500 up a long filter lane. It's a bit of a walk but you do get away quickly when you get back to your car.

Delilah and the hotel will show Sky games
The charge is £2 or £3 and you can eat pie and chips etc for £3/4
D's has 2 floors normally open
No need to book for the parking at the hotel or Remploy - just get there for 1pm
As you turn right over the flyover then the hotel is right at the roundabout and then down to the next roundabout - third exit Remploy is left at the first roundabout over the flyover

you would be far far better off street-parking back in the Stoke area & walking to the ground
I would recomend Boothen or West End areas & pub wise going upto the top of the (steep) hill in Penkhull (you can google these places - ST4) where there are two cracking away-friendly pubs The Greyhaound & The Marquis of Granby.
get here early to watch the lunchtime game in those pubs & then get a cab to 'The Incenerator' where you can walk to the ground (10 mins from there).
I would say thats the best/quickest options not least as the beer is good (food good in the Greyhound too).
might seem a bit of a palavar but a 100X better than sitting in the crappy car park for 50 mins+ after the game.
wearing your colours would be fine although (sadly) I wouldnt recomend leaving any colours in the car.

Thanks for all the advice lads Did you deserve to lose at Everton; Pompey deserved to beat us, we were garbage ? However, having said that, after Marlon King equalised in the 94th minute, Alves should have won it for us in the 95th Rumours around here, Mr Southgate could be leaving !! Are visiting fans allowed in Delilah's before the game.........if so, are we allowed colours ?? Cheers

If you leave at half time when youve already lost the game you might have a chance of a quick getaway fella'

i cant remember the last time i saw an away fan in delilahs to be honest but im sure you will be fine but i wouldnt wear colours or cover them up just in case mate. As for everton we were poor first half although they did not have too many chances they deserved to be leading and in the second half it was a completley different team! We were byt far the better team deserved a draw and the third goal at the end flatterd them to be honest. If you struglled against pompey i think you will find it very difficult in at the brit mate, we are formidable at home and i though pompey were dreadful. So hopefully another 3 points and put you right back in the mire Enjoy your day mate and are you filling your allocation you should do for such a big game ?

Did you deserve to lose at Everton Probably. Having said that, their second was well offside and their third came while we were pushing for an equaliser, so a draw wouldn't have been a travesty. 3-1 definitely flattered them. We're a completely different side at home though, so I wouldn't read too much into our away form.

We only took about 2,500 last week for an FA Cup quarter final, but it was live on the telly
Think we'll probably sell out this week-end though..........it's a massive game for both teams.
Assuming you beat us, it'll give you a 5 point gap over us, with only 8 games left............and West Brom even further behind. From your point of view, you'll then be thinking that's 2 of the 3 relegation positions sorted.............we MUST NOT lose
Seems like the idea of a 'quick getaway' is a non starter, and Delilah's might not admit us, if away fans generally don't seem to be in there. Will the Harvester or Holiday Inn be showing the Pompey / Everton match ?

I'd agree woth what Lordb has said, walking from the top of the hill is around a 25/30 minute walk, but the car will be safe as its quite a nice area, and also there are a couple of pubs nearby. Edit: Hill is James street and Trent Valley road is the top, in case you wish to goole earth it As for the game I cannot see anything other than a Stoke win i'm afraid, this season you look shambolic mate. Alves must be the most expensive flop ever and I dont rate Downing one bit either, a lot better sides than yours have come to the Brit and been sent packing. I know its football and anything can happen but on the coupon you'd have Stoke as a nailed on home banker IMHO.
