We could say we were unlucky not to get a point but in reality we were out played for large periods of the game. They played a purist footballing game. We had three tactics pass it to Fuller to conjour a chance out of nothing; get a throw in to allow Delap to ping in a trajectory or try and hold on for a point. In the second half we defended very well but there were a few heart stopping moments in front of goal. The goal when it came was sloppy but I dont think we can have many complaints. It was a shame to conceed when we did which left us no time to come back. What worried me about tonight was we couldnt retain possession for long to take the pressure off the defence. We missed Mama too. I think we will get in the play offs but I wonder if teams who have more quality sides like Charlton have worked out how to play us. Tonights game showed that eventually our defence can be worn down. We need to strenghthen midfield and sign a playmaker urgently. Marks Simmo 7- some good saves Griffin 7- welcome back Cort 7 Shawcross 7 Dicko- 6- too many wayward passes Delap 6- has a good throw in Eustace- 7 all over the place but lacks a quality killer pass and the ability to score goals. Lawrence-5 wasnt at the races Pugh- 5 ditto Creswell 6 ok but no aeral threat Fuller- 7- always a threat and very entertaining but cant be expected to win us the game every week. Man of the match Griffin.

agree with that, but I'd give Griffin no more than a 6 ,possibly as bad as 5 , he was toss

'We need to strenghthen midfield and sign a playmaker urgently. '
Let's celebrate because I believe we have a point on which all Stoke fans are agreed for once.

Would agree with most points. To concede when we did was a bit of a let - down and to a debateable goal! However, we were out played and deserved to lose, well our winning run had to end soon! Just a bloomin long way and 4 hour journey back to see a performance from the outset that's aim was containment, and we failed!

i agree with that golbmeister, we played for a draw which is always a bad move in itself.that to me was our worst performance since the hull home game. i felt our attacking was poor last night and we would not have scored if we were still playing now. i was dissappointed after having a good afternoon meeting some posters from here for the first time(geordiedave and ruts66)and meeting some mates like paulstoke and simon and dingleyknoll and neil.

Banbury Potter
Unfortunately for me being an exiled southern Stokie one of the last games I saw was the Hull match!!! Maybe I should stay at home in future and listen to (and cack my pants listenting to) Nigel Johnson's commentary on Stoke City World!
