Last night's game felt different to all the others this season. When I say it was "routine" I don't mean it was easy or that we won at a canter. But, for the first time this season I felt much as I did at Championship games in that I felt we gave a good solid workmanlike performance against good solid mid table side.
I guess what I am trying to say (very badly) is that I am starting to feel that we do actually belong in this league and that we might stay here for a while!
Long way to go yet, of course, but I'm starting to get the feeling I got in our SECOND season after promotion to the Championship. ;D

I think we are close to becoming a mid table premiership team. I was looking at Bolton thinking how have they managed to say in this league for so many years being distinctly average. I'm aware all teams seem to struggle away from home but they really are nothing special.
I think this season could be the most important in our history. Stay up and I think with more money spent we could be here for many years. Go down and we're back to square one.

Quite often the manager players and supporters have been a bit awestruck in matches...i guess thats understandable as its a big step up from the champs...but I do know what you mean....watching the extended highlights and listening to the commentary... for the first time this season there was a bit of a swagger about us that said we belong here.

I felt more confident as i was on my way to the ground, more so then when we played pompey, Don't know if Satdee's draw had anything to do with it but i definetly felt more at ease. It's great though knowing that everyone is behind the team & the atmoshire this season has been superb. this will carry us through

I also think that we (the fans) are now beginning to have a little more faith, and are entitled to raise our expectations. With few execeptions, we have not been embarressed by the opposition. Any embarressment we have felt, has been by our negativity on the field and rarely the class of the opposition, and that negativity is slowly eroding. We should now go into every game expecting to get something out of it. WE have decent quality in all departments from Sorro through to Beattie/Fuller.

When you see a performance like the one last night you realise just how close we are to becoming a decent mid-table Premier League team. Sort ourselves out away from home and we'll be there.
Of course, we now just have to make sure we don't go down this season.

Of course, we now just have to make sure we don't go down this season. It's no shock (to me anyway) that when Stoke City play positive, aggressive, high tempo football they look a decent side. Add a bit more composure in midfield, learn to retain the ball a bit better and we should be OK in the Prem for a few years to come. All this negative defend the 18 yard box hoofball rubbish just ends in defeat at this level. It's taken 6 months, but I think maybe the Manager has seen the light. Well done to him and the team last night - pressure was on to win and they did it. The signing of Beattie is a masterstroke and a real coup for Pulis. If we can sneak an away win somewhere we should piss staying up. I expect us to.

Of course, we now just have to make sure we don't go down this season. or next for that matter... (see Reading) I think that "second-season syndrome" tends to affect teams that come up and do unexpectedly well in their first stint. Maybe they get ahead of themselves - I remember after Reading's relegation that Coppell made some comments about certain players getting a bit carried away with their superstardom. Maybe other teams underestimate them initially, but then they get found-out. Whatever it is, I think that our "steady as she goes" approach will leave us better-placed next season if we do stay up.

I don't ever remember us getting promoted into the Championship.

Yes, I think that is the first game this season where we've been reasonably comfortable, but Bolton do seem to struggle to score goals this season, so that probably helped.

Spoke to a Bolton fan walking away from the game whose opening gambit was "Christ, you've got better"
We need to really push now, but there's no question we could be a part of this league. I know exactly what Fornie is saying.

i allways said that we will stay up this season but the second season will be much harder, however if you look at the championship it does look very poor this year[even worse than last year]can you see wolves, reading, brum making a fist of it? i cant
