? Eh ? 37 points will see us safe? Are you looking at the same division? The one with us and 2 others on 26 and 3 teams above that already only 9 points off 37 (Spurs with a game in hand) I'm thinking 40 points may have to be 42/3 points to assure safety... Steady on. In thirteen seasons of the 20-team Premier League, only once has it been necessary to get more than 41 points to stay up. And only 3 times has more than 38 been necessary. Not saying that it is going to be different to any previous seasons chap, but to be fair, that's one helluva unique table we're staring at with eleven games to go.

If Fellaini went to head the ball and it got stuck- he could run into the net with the ball in his hair before anyone found it. A tactic I fear they may employ against us. Let's hope it rains that day.

Teams around us are picking up points (apart from West Brazil who are rubbish anyway) We MUST beat Blackburn & Middlesborough at home and hope the teams in the top half beat those around us - starting this midweek with Blackburn and Pompey facing the top two. If it's so "easy" for us to get 40 points as TD suggests, then have we forgotten about the teams just above us fighting it out to remain outside the bottom 3? Great 2nd half effort today and we have to take that into every game from now on. Goaarn Stoke! ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/0m0lbCuTEBzaRn6f8QaM.gif) Good post there PMac. Hull are just three points behind Man City on 32 points (who are apparently just five points off safety) whilst at the same time they are just three points off being second bottom in the table FFS! And there's still eleven games to play! NOBODY at this moment in time can accurately predict what the cut off point is going to be come the last day of the season. It is true to say that we just don't know what the cut off point will be, but there are people who analyze this kind of thing, based on past tables, trends, statistical probabilities and what have you, and one of the guys was on SSN recently saying that 38 should be enough to survive in The Prem this season! We'll see I suppose.

Not saying that it is going to be different to any previous seasons chap, but to be fair, that's one helluva unique table we're staring at with eleven games to go. I know what you're saying, but be honest - how many "Premier League (11 games to go)" tables from the past years have you looked at? PMac says: That analysis takes into account seven teams (including WBA) that need between nine and 12 points to stay up - over a third of the Premiership. My point being that not all those teams will make it, and I'm prepared to trust the statistics.. Frankly, I've got no idea how the "uniqueness" of this season will affect the necessary points, and with all due respect, I don't think you do either.

I don't get why Everton are apparently invincible. Hope TP and the lads don't think that way. ![>:(](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/MK1XRTh9jLIKdOoyx512.gif) Jeez, we'll have our stongest team for ages (Ethers is back for that one) the recently returned ones will be very near to match fit and they'll surely miss Arteta. We've got a great chance and if Cahill is crocked before then, we'll never have better.

I like how "I doubt that we'll get anything at Everton" has become "Everton are invincible".
