Well the amount of times he drifted into the middle today he might as well play him in the centre and have done with it, he would also offer us more than either Diao or Faye, both are decent enough players, but are far to similar to play together, our central midfield is non existent when in possession of the ball.
Once he's fully match fit Lawrence will run all day, so I think he'd make a good box to box central midfield player-
Delap ---- Lawrence ---- Diao ---- Etherington

It may work and he would provide something different in the middle to Diao and Faye. I thought both of them played well today but they're still too similar and put in a similar performace. Lawrence needs more games though because 60 minutes looked the most he could do today. And he'll need to be fitter to combat Young on Sunday. I thought he did well today though. Not the best but only the ref knows how he didn't book at least 2 Portsmouth players for persistant fouling on him. Both him and Mama had very encouraging comebacks.

Yes, lets try more players out of position.
We are at the highest level of English football, not Unibond league One.

change diao for faye i think its perfect im not a fan of diao im sorry lads Yeh, thats a good point, I put him in there based on the fact that if he's fit he will play, Pulis rates him as not only the best midfielder at the club, but the best midfielder, in his position, in the premiership

No, keep him wide, he is all other the place wherever he plays. Fantastic, puts such a shift in. Love the guy.

He was the player of the season playing wide right, so I would keep him there

Perhaps you should be asking why we have spent £30million on players but haven't got one decent centre midfielder who can keep hold of the ball, get into the opposition box and, (Pulis lovers won't like this one) pass the fucking ball to a team mate.

You just made my point for me with that one. Thats exactly my point, the money Pulis has spent is another argument, we are where we are, and Lawrence is the only player in the squad, with perhaps the exception of Delap, capable of giving us something different in the middle, he can most certainly play that role imo, when he is 100% fit.

I agree that Diao and Faye don't work together as a partnership in the middle, but I'd leave Lenny on the right to be honest.
Assuming that Pulis will always pick Diao ahead of Faye as the holding midfield player, then IMHO when everybody is fit, Rory, Whelan, Pugh and Tonge should all individually get the nod before Amdy as Salif's central midfield partner.

Its funny how different people see it.
I thought Diao had another good game. Seems to have better close control than most and can tackle and pass.
I'd keep Lawrence wide right, Ethers, Pugh or Camara left

i would like to see this played away from home, with ethers and soares free to support the front man turning the 4-5-1 into a 4-3-3, also give lawrence a sort of attack minded role that enables him to creep late into the box ( tim cahill style) at the right times - leaving both diao and amdy to cover the midfeild. bring soares back from loan. play either lawrence or whelan in center, if whelan starts center, put lawrence on the right and soares on the bench, soares can play and prefers center too.

I'd keep Lawrence wide right, Ethers, Pugh or Camara left Forgive me if I'm wrong but isn't Camara a striker? If he was employed on the left (like many suggest on here) wouldn't it be as bad as playing Cresswell there? Square pegs in round holes? Anyway, our best midfield is: Lawrence Diao Delap Etherington but you just know that we won't see these 4 playing together in the PL.

When available that midfield four picks itself for me. Each of those players individually are the best players at the club to fill those specific positions, it's that fucking simple.
