don't you notice though, how oatcake shops are hardly ever open? The local ones in Birches Head are only open a couple of times a week for either a couple of hours or at best, a morning. Are they raking that much in that they don't need to open ???

Don't know how true it is, Garfield, but i heard that those 'food outlets' at the Brit are VERY territorial....you don't want to be treading on toes there That said, I'd love to see Scholes selling oatcakes off a hostess trolley just to see what would happen....i'd pay good money to see it ;D

They did oatcakes at the ground for a while... They were absolutely rank. I remember shelling out for one and it came in this huge cardboard sleeve about a foot long and I was well excited... Then I opened it and it was about three inches of cold grease that looked exactly like a petrified dogturd.
I think the trouble was they made them and then kept them under them heater things. They need to be freshly made and I don't think that'd work. A van outside the ground is a completely different matter altogether.

The place DEXTER mentioned is still there and is class. They cook to order and are very prompt and taste great, although the work to the ground is that little bit harder.
If you are coming out of Stoke along London road, you go past Sainsbury's, over the roundabout and it's in the row of shops on the left (next to Emma's house of ill repute).

A van outside the ground is a completely different matter altogether. If I was to ever appear on Dragon's Den, that would be the idea I would take with me! Anyone willing to take it on, would make a killing!

Anyone willing to take it on, would make a killing! Strangely (or not?) there is an oatcake van in Sheffield, that occassionally appears in the town centre. They've won some kind of award locally for something too even though they've not been running long. Good oatcakes, but very pricey (b&c was about £2.40), and it seems more of a niche thing here - sort of like the German market that sells overpriced bratwurst at Christmas. Ye Olde Oatcake Shoppe in Cheadle is where its at! ;D

The one on London Road isn't bad and close enough to the ground.
