They are a good footballing team, but have a real competitive edge as well. They're not far off a play off place in the Championship, which is a very good effort considering it's their first season since promotion. At the end their formation was 3 - 4 - 3 still wanting to win the game they could have won quite easily with a little bit of luck.

Just got back from the game and that is how Swansea have played more or less all season.
Martinez is the best manager outside the premiership but he's fully commited to Swansea and is a legend down there, he was there when they avoided relegation to the conference so he understands the club.
Being down here I get to lsiten to his interviews in the local press and he is really something special, he's totally different to Pulis though. As in he develops a team instead of looking at constantly looking to wheel & deal.
Would love him here but he's going to stay at Swansea for another 5 years at least.

Was really rooting for Swansea (always have a soft spot for the under dog)...though i don't think Swansea were the under dog at all on performance and ability today. ...Even if Paddy power are their shirt sponsors

exactly mate! great point I think if we set out to play "carpet football" alone and nothing else, then Luke is completely right. I think if we played more passing, mixed styles a little more, and changed when it's not working, we'd be on more points than we are. We don't play the way we do because of a calculated decision that it is the most effective approach. We play that way because it is the only thing that the manager knows. You may have a point there. One of our best performances of the season was against Villa, where we mixed up a bit of passing (see Fuller's goal) with a bit of the direct physical stuff that Premiership teams are apparently crap at (Sidibe goal).

Lets be fair there is not a single other team in the English league that match Swanseas style this season. Even Arsenal at times have failed to string a few passes together this season.

I'd be amazed it Swansea held onto their manager at the end of the season, the gus seems to have a great total football undestanding and the contacts in la liga to bring in boys of that ilk. Good luck to him.........

Swansea were very, very impressive, if they hang on to Martinez they'll be up next season (if they don't manage it this) but it's surely only a matter of time before a bigger club is in for him.
Gets his teams playing good passing football, signs players with pace and looks very comfortable with the media.
Sounds like no-one I know.

Good luck to him......... He'll be there for a good few years no doubt about that. Another note Swans were missing their two best midfielders today aswell and they still pass it around for fun.

For one he's been there since they nearly got relegated to the conference and were a few hours away from going out of business all together. (They were sold for a quid ;D) And he's special in the sense he's not like other managers, he knows the grass isnt always greener and he's got it made for him at Swansea. He's said he wants Swansea established in the prem, he will move for a bigger club one day, but not for a good few years.

They're Welsh they shouldn't be in the English league or cup imo. The left winger was pissing me off too. He kept cutting in and was all right footed. Yet the Fulham full back never showed him the line. Fook Swansea off! edit-I wouldn't mind that Britton youth in the middle of our midfield though!

Mate if you liked the look of Britton just wait until Ferrie Bodde is back fit, the most complete centre mid ive seen play. Tough as nails, can pass a ball anywhere - short/long/diagonal and has a great shot on him. Has a temper on him though, already been sent off for nutting and stamping lol.

If i am not mistaken Martinez was a stylish lower league player (like Dean Glover ) with the Swans and Wigwam. Saw the highlights - Swans were very impressive. Hope they keep their manager. Its always good to see so called lesser clubs doing well. In a world football that is often all about of hype and excessive rewards for mediocrity, it's good to see tangible evidence of brilliant achievement from a little known manager with no hype whatsoever. Go Swans
