At half time I said pulis should take off Fuller and put Lawrence on and play 4-4-1 with Beattie playing as a loan striker, but as we know Cresswell came on instead. I was told that since his "dogging injury" Pulis said he will never play for us again. Unfortunately it's looking that way

Yes Mark but what you can say is that is was the right decision.
In fact every substitution was the right decision.

Lawrence was waiting to come on when Amdy was injured, Pulis told him to get ready.

Lawrence would have done just as good of a job as Cresswell did...
It is sad if it is the end of Lawrence, cus' to me he was the obvious choice as a replacemtn, why play a striker on the wing, when you have one of last season top goal scorer and asist maker on the bench who is right winger

I think Tony is a bit pissed off with Liam and is making him sweat a bit before putting him back in.Rory will be suspended for three games now so surely he will come back in the team, starting with his old club, Sunderland, next week.
if he doesnt then I think we can all safely say he could be on his way

I would of personally played a right winger on the right wing not a centre forward. So far this season Cresswell has got no goals, no assists and a poor pass compleation record. Lawrence was the player of the season last year but unfortunatly it looks like he's being frozen out

It's so easy now to say it was the right decision, but put it this way i would have some knuckles left if lawrence was on the pitch !! Pulis needs fucking if he lets our player of the season go

Nah, when Amdy was injured,Pulis shouted to Liam to get ready, obviously Amdy recovered but i think he would have brought Liam on. (SKY coverage) Bringing Cressie on was the right decision tbh Ronniestokie beat me to it ;D

We probably could do with a new right winger full stop. Anyway Camara should liven us up a bit up front.

Not the game for liam today if were losing 1-0 then yes he wouldv'e come on but bringing cresswell on was the correct tactical decision by TP.

I must admit when I saw Cressie for Fuller and then him go on the wing I did have a little scream. But he did well and worked his nads off as ever.

I would be very surprised if Tone ever played Ethers and Lawrence together . Too adventurous letting 2 of the midfield get forward.

No chance....Lawrence is part of his plans, he's just making him wait for his chance so that when he gets it he'll have to produce to stay in the side. Delap is now missing for 3 games so who else do we have to play on the right???
Unless we buy/loan someone Lawrence will probably start the next match.

When Cresswell came on, I could not believe my eyes. Fuller or Lawrence would have retained possession better and kept some pressure on their back four. Instead, the alamo again. This time however, our rearguard had a great day, roared on by our amazing support.

We didn't need Lawrence's assists and goals though, we needed Cresswell's work rate to defend a 1-0 lead.
As for never playing for us again, hasn't he already come on as a sub once?

Cresswell was superb today. Give him some credit at least. I think "superb" is overstating things! Cresswell did well but he can't hold the ball up, can't run with the ball and can't pass. He ran about and worked his nuts off but his lack of quality was there for all to see. RoryM

I was as amazed as the rest that it was Cresswell that came on, but he is good in the circumstances that befell us today. As the second half drew on I became more thankful that TP knows more about football and more about his players than any of us. It was an inspired substitution and I really think we should stop moaning about Cresswell.
Hopefully at Blunderland it will be Liam on the right and we can look forward to his quality from set pieces.
Cresswell should be saved for backs to the walls circumstances. He is no good when we are on the attack and looking for goals.

LL has been out for all but 3 games of the season. Cresswell like it or not has been playing in most. When we went down to 10 and Fuller went off it made sense to put Cresswell on cause he knows the system and effort required in this team at this level.
I'm sure he'll play LL at Sunderland though. TP likes playing players when they got a point or two to prove.

when he was warming up at half time he came to collect a ball from infront of me in the corner and we all clapped him and he clapped us and put his thumb up to us. do you think tone was saving him until sunderland being his former club??

Right I've only read the top couple of posts so apologies as I am sure this has been made loads but...
What absolute twaddle. Crezza was exactly what was needed out there, the defensive side of his game is great for a forward and (obviously) he's had loads more recent game time than Lawrence - an important factor with the concentration levels needed to see out the win. Liam will play an important role for us this season, espcially now DElap will be missing for 3 games.
Do people not think before posting these days?
