what if we have 40 points and all the other teams have 50 odd? Then according to the Premiership and FA rules we would be relegated as the team with the least points. I had to think about that as hard as you did your response.

We'll lose all of our away games and will accordingly need to win all our home games to stay up.

There is no doubt about it, on paper we have got the "easier" fixtures after Saturday compared to our rivals. My own personal predictor has got us exactly where we are now and we finish with 47 points ( ) My big fear now though is two fold 1. If we get a drubbing Saturday it may prove impossible to recover (in mind and body). and 2. We have got to have three teams performing worse than us. (no shit Sherlock you say, but I can only think about the Baggies at the moment being one of them)

i still dont think it'll be 40 points to stay up.theres 15 games left i cannot see all 3 relegated teams this year getting another 19 odd points in 15 games considering its taken a vast majority of teams in the lower half 23 games to get 21/22/23 points. it cant see it happening for the other reason of there is sure to be a gap of some description that will isolate 5/6 clubs in this relegation battle which means 5/6 clubs have to pull away by beating them and taking points away from them. the team that finishes 18th will have 36/37 points i think

I feel it in my water that middlesboro and pompey will go down. Unfortunately I also feel it my my water that we are doomed!! Booo Anything less than 3 points on Saturday and we are going to need a magician. Having said all that Fulham managed 3 away wins in a row last season to stay up. So perhaps when its touching cloth the team will get at least 1 away win!
Come on you Potters!!!

Our home form will hopefully keep us up.
Think we'll nick an away win out of the blue somewhere too.
It's still there for the taking but we have to have a win soon (Saturday?) to gain some much needed confidence.
Keep the faith!!

As for other teams having a 'mare, Middlesbrough and Pompey are on a bad trot too, and I haven't given up hope on Hull failing back down to earth with a bump. I can't for the life of me see West Brazil escaping at all.
However, I still reckon we will need to double what we have now (so 42!) to stand any chance of safety. This will require either a truly blinding run of home form (at least 6 wins out of 8) or a couple of away wins from somewhere (Hull and WBA?) to back up our solid home form.

Looking at run ins, current form and transfer window business done so far, I think, like most recent seasons, 40 could well be enough.
40 is suddenly looking a hell of a long way off though.

The team currently in 4Th from bottom have averaged 1 pt per game. That would give the 38 pts for the season.Based on this and previous seasons, 40 pts will almost certainly be enough to stay up!

If we get a drubbing Saturday it may prove impossible to recover (in mind and body). Obviously we could lose on Saturday and still stay up, but I really think we need the win. They've made a couple of decent signings, but their away form is poor. Bolton and West Brom have beaten them and Hull got a draw. On paper, they are a good side, but I see this as one of our "easier" games. Surely we mustn't go into this game treating them like Man. United. We have to get some momentum back into our season, desperately.

West Brom will beat us for the 1st time in donkeys years? I hope your wrong! They beat us at their place in the league in 2004 and the draw is often a result between us. Let's face it, though, if we are going to win away this seaon, it will probably be at WBA!

We need to win every single home game and pray. The closeness of league will mean we'll need less points.
We desperately need some away points, including a win but I think we should just completely write away games off because Pulis has done since the start of the season and evidence suggests he is doing nothing to change this.
