Now I know we were 3-0 down and tensions were running high but some of the chanting from a minority (it must be stressed) of fans) in the upper tier were disgusting.
How the chavs behind me didn't get chucked out I don't know, for 90mins the three of them just shouted about gas chambers, Hitler, and various Jewish stereotypes.
I was about to complain at half-time when the old guy next to me got there first. The stewards response was non-existant which in itself is a disgrace.
Why do we have a minority of chavvy, scummy fans who sing songs about Gaza, the IRA and the like when you only have to look at them to see they get their dose of politics from The Daily Sport and wouldn't have a clue about the issues they sing about? It's pretty staggering how stupid some folk are.......

Just a cross section of society unfortunately - Football gives these knobs the opportunity to hurl abuse and give it the big un because they are standing in amongst all their mates , seperated by Stewards and protected by the Police. Funny enough I didnt hear any of this chanting when we left the stadium.
Is it a coincidence that the banner ad at the top of this page is "Learn Hebrew Online"

Must stress it was only a handful of people in the upper tier (maybe a dozen or so). But disgusting nevertheless.

I honestly think it's just a handful these days but we really do have a few pathetic ignorant nasty little wankers with us, have you got any idea what an embarrassment you are?
It's like the way I have to apologise in advance to friends who come and stay about the fights and mothers hitting children in the streets, we're such a brilliant place yet in some ways still a joke to the rest of the world.

It's not always just a slap. Seriously, seeing that was one of the biggest shocks coming back after living away.

Oh dear, really hope youve misheard but I fear you havent. I would have been mortified to hear that and would have probably been sent out for attacking our own fans. Pathetic scum.

I'm of part-Jewish decent and must say I didn't notice that much chanting but when a team call themselves a Yid Army then....

We were discussing this in Bangkok just before the game. I don't see it as a major problem..a bunch of lowly educated kids/adults trying to make some noise at a football game. However, my drinking buddy felt racist chanting was not acceptable. We could not agree on what level of "ignorance" was acceptable in the context of chanting at football matches. By the way we watched it in a bar with some Spurs fans & they were proudly chanting "Yids, yids, yids" throughout the match despite clearly being of anglo-saxon origin. Was their behaviour unacceptable? I look at it as people trying to create an atmosphere. Others look at it in a political way.

Not a big surprise given that Stoke-on-Trent has 9 BNP Councillors and there are frequent racist comments posted on here.

They should watch schindlers list aand then they wouldn't be singing about the holocaust after that. To be honest it's just ignorance and stupidity, they don't really know what they are on about and those kind of people are never going to widen their views. The annoying thing is that it makes the rest of us look equally pathetic. P.S. what is wrong about singing anti IRA songs? No surrender!

Being to plenty of football grounds where fans don't bother with IRA or anti-semitic chants. Banter is one thing, pig ignorance and stupidity are another. But I guess they're just human like you said. Give me strength.......

I love a bit of banter about millions of Jews being murdered in the gas chambers. My sides were literally splitting. Sounds to me like you think it's acceptable for the Jews to slaughter millions themselves since the holocaust, I just don't get why your moaning ? Let me remind you the holocaust was a terrible thing thing to happen but 2 wrongs don't make a right, and people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones
