We need backup like Tonge, Oli etc. and without them people would be moaning that we haven't got any backup and need some in. Players like Soares are an investment. He will improve and become the standard we need

Its a difficult position to be in thought. The best champ players don't want to go to a team that they think might get relegated. Neither do the 'experienced' prem players.

Ding dong my point was that all managers make good and bad signings its unfair just to list the bad ones. My point about Kitson was that most of us thought he was a good signing it just hasnt worked out for whatever reason. To be honest Kits Oli and Sonko have been disappointing, but IMO the likes of Soares, Tonge and Davies were never meant to be more than squad players or stopgaps.

He will improve and become the standard we need I fear you're believing what you want to believe here. The fact of the matter is that despite spending close on £7M on those three players, two of them can't even get on our substitutes' bench and other one has been loaned out to the worst team in the Championship. We are a newly promoted team and the money you spend has to mostly be on players who help you survive that first season. The vast majority of us this season were expecting the likes of Whelan and Pugh to be the back up, not players like the £3M Olofanjana. Most managers make mistakes in the transfer market, but we've got three central midfielders bought for good money currently not making a contribution to the team and it's not really good enough.
