Why play him instead of Ric? Madness.

Was he worse than Wilkinson or Whelan?

Favoritism. Thats the only reason I can see for Cresswell playing in this team.
Just isn't good enough.

I'll ask again. Was Cresswell the only poor player on the field?

no but as a forward he adds very little the lad works hard but its not enough time to go we got better attacking options now id like to see cresswell dropped and have fuller beattie and kitson playing

Drop him by all means, but it won't alter the fact that we have poor defenders and midfielders as well

He was not even good enough last season!
and before you say "what about the goals he scored last season", have a look at the 2008/2009 DVD and you'll see half his goals he knew nothing about!
and don't give me that "being in the right place at the right time is a skill" bollocks either. If you run around as aimlessly as he does all match, you're bound to be in the right place sooner or later. Ask yourself, how many times was he in the wrong place!
Based on his performances and level of skill shown since he joined us, I don't even think he'd stand out playing for the Vale. (I truly believe this)
Despite all this, Tone can't wait to pick him.
There have been many suggestions from fans as to why Tone continues to put him in the team. For example, blackmail, photos of Tone in compromising situations with women or men or animals, they're having a homosexual relationship etc but I believe it's something else.
My theory is that Tone is suffering from some sort of compulsive, obsessive, behaviour disorder whereby if he doesn't pick him, he thinks something terrible will happen to himself or somebody close to him. A bit like Becks and Gazza making sure their towels in the bathroom are folded in a certain way before they can leave the room!
Can anyone come up with a better explanation?
Or better still, can anyone recommend a good shrink for our Tone?
