i'd even go as far as offering 6m plus olofinjana and kitson, then offer bullard 40k a week.looking around on the websites, middlesbrough, blackburn and wigan are the main contenders for him.with him and a decent right back, we would finish around 13th easily.

Bullard is class, i really don't understand why clubs such as Everton, Aston Villa, Tottenham, etc haven't gone in for him. He really did run the show against us.

BEB - no chance mate. Blackburn and Boro could both offer bigger wages, and I would guess from his point of view are less likely to go down that we are.
Don't get me wrong I'd love it to happen, but it won't! !

Given their position in the table, internationally respected manager and some of the fees they've paid for players over the last few years?

Would 40k a week be enough? Wasn't it alleged that he wants £65k a week?

being a big club is about history, fanbase, money and recent success. i think we have a much bigger fanbase, better history and we are a few points off fulham. i think we are bigger.

It looks like Fulham are willing to do business for £5-6m, to get rid of a player with itchy feet who is depreciating in value as he nudges 30.
And rumours are that Bullard wants away for a wage rise.
So it all depends on the level of interest. You'd think he'd be a good player for a decent top-half team - but if there isn't the level of interest there, he may have to adjust his sights.
I'm sure his agent has been touting him around every club under the sun for a number of weeks, so we'll see what that dredges up.
It certainly doesn't sound like there's been the level of interest you might have expected at the fee Fulham want, and the salary that Bullard might want.
I'm sure he'd like to believe he could attract a Tottenham on 45-50k-a-week for a big payday to finish his career.
But if he only attracted a Middlesbrough or Blackburn on 30k-a-week, would his feet be quite so itchy, especially if it meant leaving London?
I suppose time will tell.
You'd think any wage rise Stoke could offer him wouldn't be considerable enough to tempt him away from a pretty cushy number at a decent Premier League club in London, who are outperforming us.
But if relations with Hodgson have broken down and we were somehow the only bidders in town, who knows? The Ledley stories indicate we are relatively cash-rich, even in Premier League terms.

I think it would involve a fair amount of risk. he seems quite prone to a spell on the treatment table.

BEB virtually any player given a straight choice between us, Boro and Blackburn isn't going to choose Stoke.
Blackburn have won the Prem, Boro have won the League Cup recently and been playing in Europe. Both teams have a far higher pedigree in the Prem than us.
We are currently joint bottom and playing a rather crude brand of top flight football having just been promoted.
The ONLY thing that would attract a player if was between us and them, is money, and trust me Blackburn's and Boro's wages bill is in a different league to us, it's just not going to happen.
